Default Is There Such Thing As An Easily Removable Muffler Baffle?

Was wondering if anyone knows of some kind of muffler baffle that could be put in a racing bullet type muffler for driving back and forth to the track. I was thinking of something with a set screw that you could quickly and easily remove once at the track.

Just looking out for the neighbors. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Supertrapp tips are the first thing that comes to mind. Or you could put a short bullet muffler on the tips of your existing pipes (assuming they aren't fancy tips).

As David says, Supertrapp tips... they're also what a bunch of us use to meet sound at Laguna Seca.

I installed bullet mufflers, but they fade after time.
Ive seen these cones. A bit pricey and Ive never tried them to give a recommendation. http://www.summitracing.com/search/B.../?autoview=SKU

I use super trapp and swap the two sets for LRP when I went. I had one set and could not get them out. Use SS screws and if you are swapping them a lot it should be OK.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-24215/ I've used this type of bullet, and just let them "hang out" if your system is sturdy enough. Also handy for taking a track car through your neighborhood for midnight brake bleeding, etc.

I forgot about those "cone" inserts. Might be helpfull??!!

Those cone inserts seem interesting. You just use a set screw to hold them in the tip or pipe and take them in and out? Or do they have to go in the x-pipe or over-the-axle pipe pre-muffler?

These bullet mufflers are what I installed on the car but with headers and gutted cats they are pretty loud. I happen to love the sound but don't think the neighbors may necessarily feel the same way. What are the chances of headers, no cats and bullets exceeding any sound limits at VIR for the NCM event?

I have two pipes that dump out before the mufflers. I welded 3 bolt flanges to them and I bolt a cap over them for street use and leave it open at the track. All I have now is a picture with the cap in, Ill see if I can get one with it off this weekend.

You could always try a Peashooter. You can find them on Ebay pretty cheap. Actually made a difference on my car with a 4" race muffler.. I put it in for loading/unloading the car at home before events and take it out at the track.. Took a good bit of the edge of the noise..
