Default 07Z06 Track car - Chassis/Suspension greeze points

Over the past month the squeeks and groans from below have become unbearable.

I suspect either the shocks (new pfadt units just 3,000km past), or the stock chassis/suspension

I use the car in 30deg C+ heat and for track use, so the joints get a real pounding

What goes first? Where should I look? What is going to fail?

Thanks for your input

John

I would put the car on jack stands or a lift, take all four wheels off and check each of the suspension bolts. Some may have loosened

there should not be anything to grease. i would start by disconnecting the swaybar links and see if that makes the noise go away.

Before you do anything, make sure it's not the exhaust hanger springs (holding the exhaust up at the mid-section of the car). Go shake the exhaust up and down and see if that's the squeak. Mine were squeaking pretty bad when I went over any sort of bump. I just greased them and put a small rolled up piece of thermal tape inside them to add some damping (don't know how long this will last, but it fixed the problem).

The main creaking that I've gotten from these cars is the swaybars in the bushings that attach to the carrier. Disconnect the ends and slide the bar to one side, put some grease on the bar right by each of the bushings, and then slide it back and repeat on the other side. Slide it back and forth until there is lots of grease inside the bushings and then re-attach the ends. Wipe off the excess and you should be less creaky.

You've already checked all 4 things that were suggested?

I'm afraid so. Had already done that before I asked.

The exhaust was my first bet, so I welded it up, but made no fifference

I suspect the shocks, but I dont know how to do anything about it

No - will that be a case of removing a rubber boot?

Here's a link showing what you're looking for. These grease fittings are not found on the non-Z51 base Corvette.

No. you should have a zerk fitting at each end. Don't put too much grease in or you'll have it all over the wheel barrel.
