Default Summit Point Main Course

I understand that the Summit Point Main course is being repaved. Can anyone confirm this or know of when it will be completed?

I have an HPDE there mid April and wonder if it will be completed?

Rumor is march. I've heard from people that work there its going to happen by a good company that specializes in paving race tracks.

I've also heard from people at the track that its not going to happen... so *shrugs* we'll see!

They just paved it a couple years ago??? I remember driving on it only a few months after it was paved in like 2008...they are paving it again?

Too funny, they didn't pave it for like 15-20 years and now they pave it twice in less than 2-3years.

Yeah I was there right after the paving in Fall 2007. It seemed fine but by July 2008 it was really coming up in some corners. I guess it was a poor job.

I had read on the website that it was in fact being repaved but this was before the 4 ft of snow. That might have delayed things a bit.
I would think it'd be done by mid April though, is this the Potomac PCA event?

Was there near the end of last season... it was AWFUL!!!

There were 2-3 places where it was coming up in chunks. If you were behind a car it was like following a gravel truck.

...and people look at me funny w/all that blue tape & shelf paper
The windshield shows a lot of little marks.

...but I get even worse on I-95 no matter how I try to avoid trucks etc.
Gotta love endless construction projects.

I was there in the spring of 08 during one of the early track events after it was paved and it was really nice, haven't been there since.

Wonder what happened? How could it have fallen apart so fast. You would imagine it gets 1/10 traffic of even a country road.

poor prep work, not letting the pavement rest for more than 24hrs, cool temps

mostly its the R compounds that just tear up the carousel when its fresh and sticky.

It messed up a lot of cars in the weekend I was there. I'm not overly concerned with the paint on my track car but it took quite a beating on the nose, hood, and behind the tires.
