Default Grand-Am @ Homestead

Starting a new thread to discuss the non-LGM entries and races since it doesn't seem fair to de-rail LG's thread.

I'm watching the other Corvettes, Camaros, a couple of RX-8s (yeah, I'm a rotard) and Aquilante's WRX STi... the STi qualified 16th and the practice times I saw looked back a bit, too, but I'm rooting for Andrew!

The 07 Corvette of TeamMBR/Banner Racing, qualified 1st for the race tomorrow. 4 of us from Diamond State Corvette Club were at the Daytona 24 and met Michael Baughman, the owner of the team. They had a few problems during the race, and about lap 200, had to retire. Wishing them the very best for tomorrow and the rest of the season.

Also, check out this link. It's a trailer for an upcoming documentary about Corvette racing in the upcoming ALMS.

I was watching the GS practice and qulifying too as my team CMA Racing got a top 10 in qualifying. I am not there this weekend (sick partner) and rejoin them for the rest of the season at VIR. Hmmm....maybe that's why they are top 10 this weekend? Lolol.

Saw the Subaru missed the first practice session and was 67th in practice session 2 but do not know why.

They clearly kicked it up and did qualify 18th which is pretty good. I am sure it's just some teething problems with the new car. I know they had a problem down at Daytona as they took the engine out overnight there.

Actual results can be viewed at :http://www.grand-am.com/schedule/res...d=1501&sid=854

It is a cool series.

The Corvettes did great in GT. That is really nice to see.

Yeah, and my 52" Mistu just blew the projector bulb!

Hopefully my old (OLD) 27" Colortrak II tv will still work. Eeshh.

Have a good one,
Mike

I'm a bit surprised they haven't taken some weight, or something to help the GS Camaro's yet.

In GT, Speedsource #70, and in DP the #9 Action Express team!!

I wish they'd split the tube cars and everybody else in GT. I love the cars, but cheering for a "Corvette" or "RX-8" just ain't right when it's a tube frame with a silhouette body.

Darn, looked at the line up and what happens I find myself rooting for a back marker Porsche GT3. How can I help myself, Grant Racing, drivers are Grant/Grant/Grant, can't root against the family name.

Looks like the lack of testing bit the LG team.

I did not see the race. Anyone know what happened to Andrew and the Subaru? They finished 56th. Mechanical again?

I think the Sube may have a tough year. They had a great advantage in ST class but maybe they are not made for GS. If anyone can figure it out and get them going it's Andrew's father Joe who owns that team. He is one of the masters out there for sure.

The Corvette couldn't get the door shut in the pits after a driver change and dropped from 1st to 3rd. Missed part of the race and don't know what happened to cause the to drop to 6th, down a lap or two. Better luck next time!
