Default Can I change from DOT 3 to DOT 4 without changing parts?

Hey Gang,

I'm getting my 99 FRC ready for the track and am looking to change over to ATE Super DOT 4 Blue/Gold. Can I simply flush with the new fluid, or do I need to change parts. My understanding is that the two fluids are compatible.

Sorry for the newb question, but I've not been able to find a difinitive answer - although I'm sure it's out there somewhere...

It's okay to mix but doing a good flush would be best. I think quite a bit always stays around the ABS pump so don't get to **** about it.

Yep, you can mix it no problem. Go ahead and flush the system the best you can including siphoning out the master cylinder.

3 & 4 are compatible. It's DOT5 you gotta watch out for, the silicone doesn't play well with others...

I agree with above, just stay away from Silicon/Dot5

Copy that - thanks for the confirmation.

I've got a Motive Products power bleeder and a set of speedbleeders that should aid the procedure. I'm loading a fresh set of Hawk HP+ pads all around at the same time. Should be good to go!

Also put new fluid in your clutch reservior, along side the brake fluid reservior while your at it. Siphon old stuff out, wipe clean, add new fluid.
