Default C5Z - HPDE Events - Fluid on Windshield?

Hi guys,

I am a little baffled by an issue in my C5Z. Considering the amount of experience here, I am hoping someone may be able to help.

During my first 3 HPDE events, I have noticed an occasional "spray" of light fluid that appears on my windshield during track events. It occurs only towards the drivers side of the glass, just to the right of the HUD. It's not heavy at all, which makes it hard to trace and see color.

At first I thought it was washer fluid, but now I am not so confident. I don't think it's brake fluid and if it is, the pedal feel in the car appears completely unaffected. I have flushed the system with ATE Super Blue.

It only appears to occur when I am really hard on the car and I have never seen it on the street.

Attempts to trace the fluid spray after a session has proven empty handed. I have noticed a very slight amount of fluid around the top of the master cylinder, but not sure if it is even related.

Any idea's? Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Allan

Just as Z11409 says, it's windshield washer fluid. Typical "issue" with the C5. You can use it as a pat on the back as it is letting you know you are getting on the throttle hard .

Nothing to be concerned about, just know that your washer fluid's getting lower every time you see it.

Yup, my Z experiences it also. It is indeed washer fluid. Does it at the drag strip and down the front straights for me.

Washer fluid. You'll get tired of refilling it eventually and just leave it empty.

Empty it, water weighs about 8 lbs a gallon.

Easy way to save weight.

I just noticed this when running TMS the other night coming from both sides and figured out it was washer fluid. I wonder if it is increased air pressure under the hood forcing the fluid out the hoses.

I'm pretty sure its accelleration forces pushing the fluid through the hoses.

I saw it on my C5 frequently at the track. It seemed to happen more when the fluid reservoir was more full. Nothing to worry about...

I had the same thing happen with my C5. The amount of fluid loss was minimal. I remember reading that it was air pressure related but don't remember where I read that. I noticed it mostly at higher speeds so I don't think it was caused by acceleration - the car accelerates more slowly above 100mph.

I mostly noticed it at TMS coming into Turn 4 of the oval. Doing about 135mph so I don't think I was accelerating fast enough to push the fluid out. I think it was more air pressure building up under the hood. I guess I need that extractor hood I've been looking at.
