What would be most cost effective way to build scca sto c5
After I finish the build of the Grand Am Rolex GT C6 Corvette, I am kinda thinkin about selling the last stock car and building an SCCA STO C5.
This would also work for our V8 StockCar V8 GT2.
Not interested in doing some state of the art build...just a gutted stock bodied car with the most cost effective components.
I'm thinkin either a:
97-99 C5 Coupe: See them at the auctions for 7-10 k
OR
99-00 FRC: 10k-15k
sell off lots of the stock pieces, add coilovers and bigger brakes,
reliable 420-440 rear wheel hp motor, lexan instead of glass, totally gutted interior, lightened hatch and hood, dump the lights etc.
already have a good complete LS6, ASA LS dry sump system, ASA cams, ATI LS balancer, spare heads etc.
WHAT DA YATHINK?

If you're going to throw near everything away I've read several times that the Coupes have better aero numbers. Other than that, I think running the math you get some pretty big numbers pretty quick. :-)

I have heard the same about the aero, and the FRC cars are a several thousand more expensive generally. .........But there is somethin' about the FRC's I just like.
