It's the United States government versus the rest of the world. The Corvette team is the only government sponsored team in the ALMS - if not all the world.

This car has to win. When you put all of the resources of the richest nation on earth behind a race team the pressure has to be intense. The only comparable situation might have been in Germany just prior to World War II. Hitler was very big on German dominance and the German race teams had tremendous pressure on them to win.

They did.

Now we have Obama and his government sponsoring a race team. This is going to get really really interesting.

Oli Gavin posted a Facebook update last week that he was being fitted for his seat in the car. Struck me a bit odd he was only now being fitted, or why they couldn't get the seat position sorted out from his seat in the GT1 car.

When is the first race for the GT2?

Obama Corvette vs. F430 vs. GT3 should be great sports car racing. Wish Lou was still there.

it is funny they are "advertising" their unveiling. Why not just show up next weekend at the track??

They regularly make new seat inserts for race teams, and likely make spares. I'm sure a fitting/refitting is pretty common for those guys. They don't use off-the-shelf seats like we do.

In Germany during the 30's it was win or die. In the new millenium, it's win or we'll recall all our taxpayer financing.
