Default Talldega Grand Prix Raceway 08/15/2009

Tracks Unlimited is gauging interest for a track day at TGPR on August 15th. We already have a full event on Sunday the 16th, but we can offer Saturday as well if enough people would like to come out. We limit our track days to 16-18 cars to provide maximum track time. You get a minimum of eight 15 min sessions per day. Street cars welcome. Private instructors available at no additional cost upon request. For more details, see:

www.TracksUnlimited.net

Don't forget our St. Jude auction. See the sticky at the top of the page.

Hope to see you there!

Adam

Sorry. I fixed it.

I see you live in Harriman. I did some work at Kingston Fossil Plant before and after the spill. I hope you weren't affected too badly.

For those that have not been, this is a GREAT track. I just completed my 5th time at this track this past weekend (2nd time in the C5 Z) and had a blast. Unfortunately I will be at the NASA event at Road Atlanta the weekend before this one. To keep my marriage alive, I need to avoid this event.

One word of caution; although VERY fun... it is slightly rough on brakes and tires. Especially after 6x 20 minute sessions in a day.

It's not world class for sure, but if you owned a couple of hundred acres, it's about what you'd want in your backyard

I live in Swan Pond a little over a mile from the spill site. Not affected any but lots of neighbors are taking advantage and selling out. It pisses me off they are ripping off the tax payers. Maybe the IRS will do audits on them for the next few years.

This is a fun little track! I usually do autox in either a CSP miata or BSP C4, and my only other track experience was at roebling road a LONG time ago. I had a blast in my '04 Z06 being chased by miatas on monday, july 27. Doing a ride along in a fast miata, it seems they could carry more speed through the corners (atleast where my skill level is now) but The Z just has such incredible accelaration it evens out.

It's funny you mention that.

My buddy has an S2000 that he runs at the track. Both of our lap times were in the 1:11 range, even though the Z outpowers the S2000 handily. Turns out my Z would top out at 103mph +/- on the three stretches and the most he could wring out of his S2000 was about 88-90mph. Where he made up the difference was in the turns... turn 1 in the S2000 was almost 72mph! By comparison, I was usually running 65-67mph according to my HUD in the Z. We swapped cars for a session to confirm this was not just the "driver". Although I would KILL him on the straights and coming out of the turns, he was able to carry more speed in the corners... something TGPR has a lot of.

This track does a good job of leveling the playing field somewhat... which makes it fun IMO.

Trouble is... we just completed an LS1 swap in his other S2000. That should make things interesting at the next TGPR event.

Every time I go there, I SERIOUSLY think about this. There is an awful lot of cheap acreage near the GA and AL borders.

I will probably try to make an event at this track someday next year if I can pick up my new toy by then and do some testing with it. I'm gonna need all the seat time I can get in it before I start my T1 career.

We still have a few spots available for Saturday. It looks like Sunday is a sell-out.
