Default Laguna video

requires DivX codec.

http://www.trackhq.com/forums/photop...368/ppuser/450

This was at 48 psi hot. Not much of an example for technique, line, smoothness, or any of that, but the car stayed out of the dirt!

In 5 20 minute sessions on track the car suffered:
3 cracked rotors
2 brake failures (4+ pumps to get the brakes to work)
1 or 2 spread brake calipers
3/4 of the front pads gone
possible bad wheel bearing

Those are good numbers, you were revving it up! Nice video, those Nitto's are a handful, I wonder what they are like at 55psi

That carnage seems excessive. Rob, what sort of brake cooling do you have there?

Still trying to get the video to play.
Save http://www.trackhq.com/forums/photop.../50psi_lap.avi to disk and you'll have an AVI file after 1.5 cups of coffee.

Nice vid. Sounds like you had some serious carnage! I was there on Thursday with Sidney and ran 4 25 minute sessions with no real problems except my ABS and active handling warning light was on all day.

33 psi cold. For brakes the car has the base model napa rotors and the mild C6Z06 ducts.

Also, the brakes weren't being used very hard at all, due to the lack of tow hooks and lack of confidence in them.

The car seems to lose a bunch of power when it heats up.

15 psi pressure build up is really high. 8-10 psi is what I am used to. It could be the tires were filled with saturated air.
Your brake carnage is because your tires are crap, you might not be braking hard but you are probably braking often and feathering the brakes because you lack confidence in the grip thru the corners.
Laguna Seca is a short track and if you are braking often there is no opportunity to cool them down. The heat builds up in the brakes; pad wear rate increases, calipers spread, rotors crack, fluid boils.
Do yourself a favor and get rid of those pieces of wood, you will go faster thru the corners, brake less and consume less brakes.

No unsolicited advice please.

The tires did fine. I lack confidence in the brakes as well as my muscle memory since I am used to car 1000lbs lighter with a much higher grip to weight ratio.

I also didn't want to find out how the corvette would behave in the dirt, so I kept the mid corner speeds down.

Finally, the car lacks tow hooks, so a trip into the gravel would be unacceptable.

The stock seatbelts weren't helping things either.

I know exactly what it would take to make this car work right, and I am simply unwilling to make that commitment.

I agree with that. The car needs a driver that is willing to take some risk.

In this car, I am not that driver.

Once you bend it you will have a much easier time justifying the T1 build.
