Newbie to this side but need answers
What does it take and what are the steps required to start a road race team? I am in South Florida and have a strong interest to get into the road racing with my two cars but don't have a clue what it takes or what is necessary to get started. Can someone please advise?????

1st would be to decide what you want to do? How much you looking to spend? Budget? What type of car, in what series? Then are you going to drive or hire a driver? If you are going to drive you need to get licensed? You need to build a legal car? Do you want to work your way up or jump right in?

Guys I want to start a club. One for guys of all ages and have all kinds of cars. One for guys who love performance cars as much as I do and would love to have events and get together and hit the track. One that together with our local shops and tuners we can get our selves discounts at our shops because we represent them and advertise them because we love and appreciate what they do for us. Any one else interested in that let me know as well.

Forget about sponsors. If you want to go racing, you will fund it (or find the funding through networking you already have), and you will pay a shop to build a car for you. I would suggest shopping around, as there are lots of good race cars available already.
There are already at least 10,000 great drivers for ever great sponsor, so you have to have the right attitude to do this. You are doing it for fun, not for profit.
If you want to OWN a team, hire a driver (I'm available) and a shop to build/maintain a car. If you want to drive however, then.......
Take one of your cars to any local road course and do 20-30 DE's with an instructor. If they "solo" you regularly, and you get comfortable driving side-by-side lap after lap, then consider doing an SCCA or NASA Comp school (PCA, BMWCCA, Bondurant etc also have these). Once you have a license, you can compete as a novice for a while, then apply for whatever club/pro license that appeals to you.
By the time you do all of this, you should have a car that is legal to go racing. You can spend $50k on a car and $1000/weekend to club race, or you can spend $300k+ and $10k-$100k/weekend to race in a mid-level pro series.
The easiest thing to do is do some schools, get a license, and "buy" a ride with a Grand Am team. You'll come out cheaper in the long run than attempting to create your own team.

Well I know of a helluva good Vette driver for that Z06 of yours!!!! ...and I work cheap!
Seriously though, it looks like what you're looking for is some type of pro series. The only real way to get any type of sponsorship is TV time...lots of it. Depending on what you've done to the cars, you should look toward Grand Am, Koni Cup or whatever they're calling that type of series now.
Check out Speed Channel for something along your lines and start making calls.
Good luck. ...and don't forget about the driver offer!

Bring your cars, a lot of spares for the crash and/or blow up. And a couple of suitcases of cash.
Seriously, go to boundrandt or spring mountain, skip barbarour get your license. Check your lap times on some of your local tracks against the SCCA or NASA website listings for the class you want to run in. Just to see if your close to running the same lap times.
GOOD LUCK.

NASA Florida http://www.drivenasafl.com/
NASA Rule Book CCR
http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/ccr.pdf
Car would be SUPER UNLIMITED
Rules for Super Touring & Super Unlimited
http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/Super-Touring.pdf
First step would be to "CONFORM YOUR CARS TO SAFETY RULES"
I do not believe either of those two cars at +/- 700 hp would conform to any SCCA rules, and forget Grand AM ( PRO ) or ALMS( pro)
Second step as mentioned above by several ppl, Get your self to a High Performance Driving Event ( HPDE )
or Retain Chris or David as a consultant. Upper 5 figures should do.
Racing is NOT inexpensive. Heck HPDEs are not either.
there are no SPONSORS for start ups.
The way to make a Million dollars in racing? start with 5 million.
Good Luck

jason, david and chris, I responded and emailed him first. if we need a 3rd driver, I'll advise.
seriously though james, sign up for some track days. if you wind up here, holler and I'll see if I can give you a hand.
re-read david's post.
*ps, have you done brakes/suspension/harness/etc. yet? if no, I'd do that next or invest in some parachutes!
