Default Separating 3 piece wheels to change tires?

Anybody do this or do you still have the tires changed like normal 1 pc wheels?

Any reason not to separate 3 piece wheels to mount tires?

Change them just like any other tire. Don't mess with the wheels if they aren't leaking or you aren't changing anything. Some have a seal in there which can be spending to replace, or they are glued together, which can be a major pain. You will find it to be much more work to unbolt all those little guys, using a screw driver to pry the tire off the seat. In my eyes, DON"T MESS WITH THE WHEEL

I would never take multi piece wheels apart to change tires. That's lot of little bolts that need to be torqued in the proper sequence, probably 2-3 passes, plus getting the seal between the pieces. Much easier to just change them the regular way.

I've never taken mine apart

BTW if you DO take them apart, getting them so they don't leak is a real PITA!

Like others have said, leave them together. Depending on how the wheel is put together, some have seals, some you have to seal with a silicone sealant. Either of which you typically can not check while putting a tire on.

Nice thing about multi piece wheels is that you can change damaged items for less money than the entire wheel, and they are typically lighter.

May I ask why you consider this method in the first place ?
