WHICH BRAKE PADS for C4 track car??
After searching on here for a while I am even less certain that when I started. When I bought my C4 track car I ended up with some Hawk pads as spares. Well... the last set just went on and I am wondering what you experts think I should do from here on out. The car has stock C4 Grand Sport calipers and although there is no ducting, I never felt any dropoff or fade until the very end of the last 30 minute session of a weekend when there wasn't much pad left at all.
What pad would you guys recommend? I've seen lots of good things about Cobalt, and a few others. I'm not trying to set lap records and price is a factor... just trying to find something that works well and lasts as long as possible. Thanks as always!

We've had good luck with the DTC-70's and the HT-10's. We use the HT-10's because of the cost effectiveness but I really like the DTC 70's when we used those. Crazy Bite! Hawk has been the best that we've used so far. Have yet to use carbotech.

I've used Carbotech, EBC yellow, and Hawk blues on my cars.
By far I like the Carbotech and Hawk pads.
I've been running the Hawk blues on my mustang (since its a V6 its got the same front/rear balance and is about the same weight)
Carbotechs XP10 front /panther(or bobcat can't remember) - not a lot of dust, lots more than a street pad but less than the hawk blue. I liked them and would use them again.
Yellowstuff - ok, but I didn't feel as confident with their stopping ability as the carbotech or hawk pads
Hawk blue - as good as the Carbotech, don't last as long. Dust like you would not beleive.
When these are gone and if I need track pads for the Mustang again I'll try the DTC 60's
When the corvette is back on the track I'm going to try DTC 60 or 70 all around for track duty. They are a little less expensive than the Carbotechs, but with discounts they are very close to the same price.

Great advice. We have GS brakes on our car and even our backup calipers have SS pistons in them. Peace of mind goes a long way towards confidence.

Since you mentioned budget you might want to give these a try.

I've used them for several years on my Mustang with good results as long as I keep the cooling ducts in place. I had one set wear out in 7 sessions without the ducts but two other sets lasted very well with the ducts in place. I just use 2 1/2" shop vac hose for ducts. Removed the splash guards and tie wrapped the hoses on to the struts with the ends bent to an oval.

After 13 years of racing a Corvette in SCCA, I have tried just about every race pad out there. Without a doubt Cobalt Friction is the best pad out there. Unbelievable initial torque, easy to modulate, wear far superior to any comperable race pad, and are not hard on the rotors. Give us a call if interested or if you have any questions.

One of the things to consider when deciding cost is how long the pad will last. With the C4 race car the PF stopped better than other pads but I could only get one weekend out of them and they ate through rotors. I have never tried cobolt but I spoke with a few competitors at the sprints and heard good reports on them. If they last as long as reported and stop as well that would be my choice. Heck if they last half as long as reported they will beat anything I have tried on the C4. I plan on a set for the DSR the next time I order.
