Default K&N Air Filter, C6 Z06 and Super Stock?

You are allowed to change your air filter. Is the K&N replacement legal for Super Stock in Autocross?

TIA.

You can use any filter element that fits the same as the OEM element in the stock airbox. You can even run with no filter at all if you choose (though that's probably a bad idea if you care about keeping your engine for any length of time...).

Just so we're all on exactly the same page:

13. STOCK CATEGORY
13.10 ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN
A. The engine air filter element may be removed or replaced. A
replacement element which is taller than standard may not be
used to hold the air cleaner cover open. No other components of
the air induction system may be removed, replaced or modified.

No specific restrictions on the type.

I know for a fact AFE does, because that is what I currently have until I install the Vararam.

That's why I'm asking. The K&N filter for the vette is the whole assembly replacement.

I think that rules out this product: http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...Prod=63-3060-1

FWIW I recall a reliable source telling me that the C6 filter element was given quite a bit of consideration and that it far outflows the dimensions of the intake. In other words, no matter what you might replace it with, there are no gains to be had.

The stock C6 Z06 filter is about 4 or 5 inches thick, and has a kind of honeycomb design to it that allows air straight into the columns and then thru the fabric/paper into the columns on the other side, which allows the air up into the intake. From the look of the design, it appears that it would also act as an air flow straightener as a result, which is always good for the MAF readings.

Unfortunately, due to some spirited driving, mine has a good amount of oil soaked into it now, so I'm going to need to replace it, and I have yet to find anyone that makes a washable replacement that does not include the entire air bridge assembly. I've been using a K&N filter on the '01 Z06's stock airbox for years, and it's very nice to be able to just clean it whenever it gets dirty.

No, it's not. The item I linked to is just a filter replacement.

Absolutely, since it's a completely different intake.

You linked the filter for a C5 Z06, the OP's interest, at least by virtue of the thread title, appears to be regarding a C6 Z06 filter, which is very different than the C5's. The only K&N solution (or any others I've seen so far) includes replacing the whole airbridge assembly.

You can use either a K&N or Green filter. Both companies make a replacement for the OEM setup, and both improve air flow.
