Default EMCO Sequential Transmission for Vettes** your thoughts

Plus it will be at Corvettes of Carlisle.

Hi guys,

Here is the new EMCO Sequential 6 speed Direct replacement Transmission.

The gears are changeable but the first one we are getting has these gears:

1st---2.73, 2nd--2.03, 3rd--1.58, 4th--1.28, 5th--1.09, 6th--.97

We can have them put any gears that you want in the car but these should work well.

Same gear sets that we run in the GT2 ALMS car.

Let me know your thoughts on this. It is legal for NASA cars, track cars, and some Grand Am cars, as well as WOrld Challenge cars.

Let us know

Thanks
Lou Gigliotti

The price is $24,500 and since it is so new, that may or may not include a LED gear read out. it is still brand new and we have not delivered one complete yet.

The first one is going in my street car and we will have it at Corvettes of Carlisle.

it has its own mechanical pump built in so all you need is a cooler if you are racing it hard.

Yes, those ratios are available. I just put in these ratios because most tracks don't use 6th, and not even 5th if it is a short track.

Pricey?

A Z06 corvette is pricey to a Honda motorcycle driver

Its all relative, and there are some real serious track drivers on the Corvette forum.

the sequential transmission was worth just a little more than 1 second in lap time in the World Challenge. We had to add 100 pounds when we ran it.

No clutch between gears on up shift OR on down shifts. Just a slight lift with each shift to unload the dog rings, like a motorcycle.

If you have a good Computer guy, we have a strain gage on the shift lever that senses when you pull back on the shifter and it will initiate a slight engine break for about 2 mili seconds.

Here is a video link of a transmission exactly like this with a slight lift on each shift. It shows how fast it can be up shifted. this is me at Mosport in my World Challenge car.

And here is a video of our current ALMS Corvette at St Pete ALMS race with an EMCO installed with the Strain gage on the shifter. allows flat shifts on the up shift but still have to so a slight blip on the down shifts.

Enjoy

Awesome gearbox. I spent last weekend mapping out my dream gear ratios for a fairly high speed track like Miller using their Excel spreadsheet - this is a very nice file, with all kinds of information:

Looking at close gear ratios would also make me re thing cam selection to get the most of the close power band AND the close gear ratios

That is amazingly cool. It costs as much as a used C5 Z, but it's fracking cool.

I saw that when i was replaying that race and jumped on the emco website... I was disappointed to find it without a price tag. "if you have to ask, you cannot afford it"

I wish I could throw that in my c5, but thats not going to happen till i win the lotto.

You can do anything with the right amount of $$$.

I saw that promo when I was watching that Grand-Am race and thought it was interesting. Hopefully since they see a market for a direct replacement corvette gearbox that means there will be a few more corvettes in the series using them. This is another thing that goes into that column of if I had more money then I knew what to do with...

Rockland Standard can build you one. Send them an old transmission housing in good shape, and that will bring the cost down to some what reasonable.
