This was an event, how they got insurance is beyond me. This is what can happen when a parts company runs an autox

Well, we can start with the Excursion and the brainiac riding shotgun with his arm out the window.
Love the people observing thinking they are safe behind a 3 foot Tru-link fence.
Love the stop box that requires a right hand turn on route to a lamp post.
You're right, too many to list.........

Just dayum. No helmets, the passenger in the truck has his arm out the window, and that "fence" wouldn't hold a bicycle in. The speeds looked pretty fast for the size of the area and the finish didn't look like it had much in the way of runoff past the lights.
I'll bet that there was no insurance coverage.

Wow, that is in my backyard, at the Goodguys car show. With the recent push towards people building "G" machines, they are having an autoX event at many of the shows. They are on a very small lot, I doubt there was much speed involved.
That being said, pretty scary how they set that up, and what people were allowed to do.
I am sure the insurance thing is ok, I mean the Goodguys travels all over the country, charging people to bring their "show" cars in, and then charging other people for the chance to look at said "show" cars. I am sure they could just cut a check to the families and be done

I don't know what's funnier
That event or the people in CFOT that don't get how unsafe that event is compared to others.

Or the fact that OP of this photo called it a "crowd favorite". Of course it was...where was this event, Alabama?

Easy, it happened in Pleasanton, CA at one of the largest car shows in the country. Problem is the fairgrounds there are more interested in having more "antique booth" room, than they are having a decent sized lot for parking/autoX. Years ago they used to do the manufacturer "test drive" events there as well.
The "crowd favorite" comment was because there were about 4 people actually driving their cars around the course (1 was the lady that was the "pro" driver for the Super Chevy suspension test, who has been a National Champ, and a friend of mine that is a 2 or 3 time National CP champ). Most of the other people there were old guys barely getting any body roll around the course, so the crowd would react to people actually driving the cars. (IE more than 25% throttle)
Not likely any mullets, nor was there any "Dad is also your brother" stuff going on.
I believe that someone drove the "giveaway" car for Super Chevy into one of the concrete dividers though.

Yep, good friend of mine. I am helping him set up a stereo in his 66 coupe this week That is what he was running at this event, with the custom rear suspension he built. Pretty cool.
