Default pressure loss in oil lines

Thought you guys might find this interesting, it came up at work with a heavy oil we're using and the gear box we are trying to plumb.

Did you know that your standard 90degree fitting is equal to running 2.5 FEET of line?

something to think about since there's a pressure drop for every inch of line.

The stuff were using is so thick I'm having a 1psi drop for every INCH of line!

As the cop said in "Jaws"... need a bigger boat...

If you have that much line loss you need a bigger diameter line and slow it down so that you get the losses under control. If you double the diameter you get 4X the area and the and the velocity is 1/4 of the previous line size. Since the losses go up with a square of velocity, 1/4 the velocity is 1/16 the loss...

Losses go down big time with diameter...

Default

That's what I'm in the process of doing

We subbed the boxes out only to bring them back in house after the vendor messed up the design.
