Default Video of T1 car....in-car footage shot from a Maserati Rolex Cup car.

Here's some footage from my SCCA race a few weeks ago. Most cars stayed in during qualifying as it poured rain allowing me to take P2, just off the pole. I never gave up my 1st in class positioning as it really allowed me to drive early on with no traffic to pad the lead.

My lap times were mid 230's which is way off the pace of a fast T1 car. The newer C6 T1's are turning 2:25s or better. My car needs a motor refreshing and tune as it was blowing smoke out the left bank both race days.

Overall I sucked and never felt comfortable as the car felt twitchy. I ran a better race the next day despite starting further back (13) and made some nice passes.

As the title states, the footage is from inside a Maserati Rolex Cup car who chased me most of the race. Rob, the Maserati driver was kind enough to share it with me. His car weighs 2650 and you can see how easily he gains in braking zones. He played it very safe as he could have passed me a few different times. The next day he qualified much faster than me and I never saw him after the rolling green.

Mike,
With some Cobalt Friction brake pads you might actually make it around turn 5!

Good footage. Nice quality camera set up he has. Looked like you were both pretty even but I bet with that sequential gearbox his car cost about 5X more than yours. I've got to get to that track!

Mike - looks like you were having way too much fun out there. Enjoyed the video - Road America looks like a really sweet track. How would you compare it to VIR full course? Mike

excellent videos mike thanks alot for sharing/captions on the vid.

Yeah it is really dumb t1 doesnt allow you to atleast run a different caliper up front to control the brakes better.

Awesome video Mike, thanks for posting it.

What speed do you think the T1 car carries through the Kink?

I have to get out on Road America someday - what a track!

For sure!

I don't think we have the same connection at Road America that we do at Autobahn - wink wink, nod nod.... but it would be awesome indeed.

My girlfriend grew up 30 miles from Road America and her folks still live there so last time we visited them I finally got to go see the track. It looks incredible and I am guessing it should be near the top of one's "bucket list" of tracks to drive.

I don't think I've ever heard a racing sequential I didn't like. The car was built for a spec series so it isn't the fastest thing around but it makes the race car noises perfectly! Nothing better than rowing down the gears from 6-2....bing-bing-bing-bing.

Ha, thanks.

I need a car that isn't quite the Beast and more than the T1. It is very hard bouncing back in forth between ultimate handling and loosey goosey. In the Beast I can brake at the 3 1/2 marker going into 5, with the T1 I'm breathing the throttle before the 5.

Robert,

I always make it around turn 5, but it would be nice if a few times I could avoid the 8 inch rumble.

Point taken!

Mike,

I did a good job shifting overall, but even my best is slower than a sequential no-lift box. The following race day he ran faster lap times than me, but I found a good battle with another T1 car and that was just as much fun.

Very nice; yeah, T12 Canada corner can be exciting! Your T1 keeps you in the land of mortals you would forget if all you knew was the Realm of the Beast!
