I turned it off, it is so boring. I'd rather watch "NASCAR Race Day" and listen about Jeff Gordon's charity, it is more exciting. Especially considering that BrawnGP went from last to first when they got rid of the boat anchor Honda engines. I guess Hondas can only win a race when they are the only ones in the race!

I guess I am too much of an engineer, I like to see new, innovative things. My Dad took me to the 1968 Indy 500 and I thought the STP 4WD Lotus turbine cars were/are so cool. Imagine Pratt and Whitney engines racing against Offy's and Ford's! Why do all these sanctioning bodies think the formula for success is generic crap cars? Also, I did not appreciate a non-US driver with USAF colors.

When the last turbine car dropped out, I think my Dad and I were the only ones that were disapointed.
The point is that even with the generic cars, the same big teams still always will win due to the fact that you can only work on the last 0.1%. In the innovative days, some smart guys like Smokey, Jim Hall, Granatelli had room to work.

I don't know, but it doesn't matter to me in any case. If they were all "Chevrolets" I would have the same attitude towards the IRL. The last time they ran at Loudon, I was offered free tix with pit passes and I live about 40 minutes away. I cut the lawn instead.

Smokey wrote a sevarl book long biograpy before he died. It is excellent and gives you real insight to what went on during the hey days of both nascar and what was the USAC... i highly reccomend it..
The best part is the what he did during the war.... and the Polish girls
