USA made brake rotors?
Anyone buying USA made brake rotors for autocross/track?
looking for some cheap rotors for "play time" have been using napa made in USa and they no longer exist. ARGHHHHH.
I do not want slotted or driller. just plain old simple rotors for a 2004 Z06.
suggestions?
thanks.

if I pass a NAPA I check stock on C5 rotors, if it's made in canada on the box I grab it. There's still a few NOS canadian ones floating around, you get lucky here and there.
the current chinese ones are junk, they don't last near as long as the canuks did. it's getting to a safety point for me, I will probably start running quality 2 pc rotors

Raybestous shut down the canadian and Ill foundries. They cast almost all of the other brand names

By the way...in case anyone really cares...he is a SHE.
I stopped at a NAPA today and they said china and they could order them.
YUK!
so now that we know I have to use an imported piece of junk, what is the lesser of evils?
I really do not want to spend $$$$$$$. plus I don't know how to install a 2 piece.
best suggestions please.
thanks

EAA,
My favorite discussion on the forum. We make 2 piece rotors for the C5, C6, and C6 Z06. We use Coleman Racing rotors and machine the aluminum hats ourselves. Coleman may be the only company still left that uses US iron, casts and machines there rotors in the USA. Our rotors are 100% made in the USA, directional, correctly vented, slotted only - no holes, are a direct replacement, and offer a significant weight savings.
The argument against them is that they cost too much. Yes, they are more exspensive. However they will far outlast the cheap rotors making them cheaper to run in the long run. I just had one of my customers and Corvette forum member, Steve Landstra, finaly break one of our rotors. Steve said he had 70 to 75 sessions on them in his C6 Z06 using a very aggressive Cobalt Friction XR1 brake compound. Steve is a very good and hard driver with alot of experience. Let me see you do that with a chinese rotor.
I always say our stuff is a higher initial cost, but a lower cost per track day. By the way, they are no harder to put on then a stock rotor.
Give us a call if you are interested or if you have any further questions.

Centric premiums are supposed to be stamped made in the USA but that might only mean finished here. They could be cast in china. They are supposed to hold up a little better. I might give them a try when my motor finds it's way back in my car.

Nothing wrong with slotted... I'd go with the Coleman's as mentioned above. We use Coleman's on our Panoz and they last forever. Using PFC endurance racing pads my father and I both used the Panoz last year w/o ever toching the brakes other than a bleed in between events. 4 HPDE events = 8 sessions per event x 2 drivers = 64 run sessions.
We swapped them out this year to have fresh rotors, but there was really nothing wrong with them and we've kept them as spares

I have had Raybestos, NAPA and Brembo stock replacement rotors that were stamped Made in Canada and now they say Made in China.

I'm pretty much sold on the two piece rotors. The whole reason I went to the Gstop package was to save money in the long run and provide a little more safety in a critical area. Don't want those stock brakes failing esp when I don't have the money to replace calipers as often as the T1 guys. Ive started to see heat cracks after one week end with the cheap rotors. The last thing I want to happen is for one of those things to come apart while I'm at speed.

Maybe the guy Rob (blue 02 Z06) that I met at Summit Point on Monday that showed me these rotors will chime in.
