Default Enkei RP-F1 wheels on c4, your thoughts...

I have run these wheels in the past, and they are great. Super light weight, strong, and cost effective. on a vehicle other than a corvette, BTW.

When i visited Enkei's site, i noticed that they only offer a 5x120 bolt pattern (that is remotely close to the corvette's 5x120.65), in which case i have seen a hand full of corvette guys run BMW wheels (for autocross or whatever)

here is the break down on weight of wheel in the sizes offered.

18x8.5 = 40mm offset (should work with the c4) 18.3lbs
19x8.5 = 35mm offset (might need the grand sport flares) 19.8lbs
19x10 = 2-mm offset (don't think these will work) 21.3lbs

i was planning on purchasing a set that would "work" than have two of the four wheels sent out to a wheel widening company to add a few inches to the backside... with a 40mm offset, i should have "quite a bit" of room to widen out the back set... i.e. 8.5" stock to 11.5"

any information would be appreciated

the center bore measures 72.5mm what is the center bore on a vette'?

8.5" is not very wide. plus 19" tires are very expensive

i actually wasn't leaned toward the 19's (because i figured tires would be expensive), but keep in mind guys... i am going to be WIDENING the wheels. They aren't going to stay 8.5" wide, or 9.5"....

brian- what is your offset again? I probably have asked you that before... also, the rears look like they "stick out" past the fendors a little? is that correct, or it's just the picture?

I thought you could only safely widen wheels 1.5" or so.

That only gives you 18x10s which you can get as C5 Z06 rears which are pretty light if OEM.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a cheap lightweight wheel in the price range the import guys pay for them, but I haven't found one with the width yet.

After talking to a vendor in the eastern US, they've told me they can go up to as much as 3". I was referred to these guys from a forum member (with a ZR1) who took his Zr1 wheels there to get widened. So i trust them.

How will widened wheels balance?

I know some people who use the RPF1's on other cars then vettes and there is alot of talk of spoke flex. I think thats why enkie came out with the NT03-M, its like the RPF1 except it has an extra ring supporting the spokes so they don't flex much.

I have owned many sets of RPF1's on lower weight cars and loved them. For heavier cars I prefer the NTO-3 and have ran several sets as well, they are quite a bit stronger and in bigger sizes not much heavier than the RPF1.

the rears the stick out just a smidge, the fronts don't.

You'd have to ask CCW about the offset, f&b are different

FWIW I run 17 X 12 CCW"s on all four corners of my 92.
Backspace is 8 1/2". It works well on all corners although I will use a 1/4" spacer on the fronts at some autocross events.

raam- i only ran the 17's in the Enkei's in a car lighter than the vette. Awesome wheel and it looked good too! the NT03 is not so "appealing" to me.

The RPF1 type RC is a beautiful wheel, but also not offered in 5x120 (5x120.65). I would even "settle" for the RP03

Cool, I guess my information is out dated. It was a shop down in TX I believe that did the same work, for zr1 guys. They said max was 1.5" on a-molds and I think it was 150$/rim or so.

You'll have to keep us updated on what you find out.
