Default Sway bar grease question.

I changed out the front bar for a GM T1 bar and greased the GM bar bushings with some brake caliper grease.

It squeaks like granny on her rocker on the front porch.

What do you guys suggest for grease & where do I get it.

Thanks!

I actually drilled the chassis mounts out and installed zerk fittings. Now I can grease them with a grease gun.

Make sure you install a couple of washers inbetween the crandle and clamps. This helps with pinching the bushing against the bar.

Think I should rough up the paint on the bar? It'll wear off anyway.

It would help hold lube at a micro level and help hold it from going side to side. I still wouldn't try to take off the powder coat.

That's what I used and I've had them on for 2 years. No squeaks. The paint will slowly wear off in those places anyway. Now the end links rattle and people keep on telling me something is loose on my car

I have to admit, I haven't done enough plumbing to have used this.

What is the PLUMBING application for this grease?

I have done a bunch of home plumbing. Toilets, faucets, sweat a few pipes.

You don't mean flux I suppose?

dielectric from NAPA big tube cheap. Don't roughen the paint it will wear the bushing faster. Paint will wear off slowly. It needs to move freely and slide or it will bang like most hear banging. after 50,000 miles I have two small chips on my bar and never heard a bang or a rattle.

Shimming properly as DRM told me 9 years ago is critical. The bushing do wear and the OEM will hold grease the best.

I always wrap the bars with teflon pipe tape.
The stuff you can get for $.69 at your local hardware store.

Two coats of tape and some silicone grease.
I haven't had one customer with squeeky bars.

It is not just about squeaks, it is about performance. If you cannot move it with your hand strength, it is too tight. Do not confuse friction with damping.
