Caliper Rebuild How-To?
Is there a good How-To on rebuilding calipers? My 05-06 GTO calipers that I bought for my 2004 GTO need to be rebuilt and I haven't found anything useful. Also, would you guys know if C5 or C5 caliper rebuild kits would work on GTO PBR calipers?

I use the factory rebuild kit, so you can just order for your car at a dealer. Rather simple job. Compressed air is very helpful. Drain the fluid. Put a small block of wood at the outer edge of the caliper and a small amount of compressed air at the brake line connection will pop the pistons. Upon reassembly, I seem to recall the dust boot/seal was the biggest PITA as it needs to stretch quite a bit to get it on the piston. Grease those slide pins well.

Popular Mechanics recently had an article about rebuilding calipers.
I didn't find anything new in it, but if you have never done it its a good read thru so you know what is involved.

I did a few videos because I get asked all the time. Because we sell the SS pistons for the PBR calipers. Buy GM rebuild kits, I ordered in some from a aftermarket company. One of the seals had a rip in it out of the box. So I throw those away and will never try them again.

Or if it's scored, just toss it?

Thanks a bunch guys, that video helped a ton! I took them apart while waiting for the rebuild kit to come in and found a small nick on one of the pistons. My buddy said it should be fine, what do you guys think?

I think it is fine; that nick is nowhere near the sealing surface. Make sure there are no burrs on the nick that might damage the seal as you push the piston in; otherwise deburr it.

Awesome, thanks guys!!!
Rebuild kit is coming in next week so should be able to assemble them. I practiced a bit using old boots and it seems really simple
Just need to order some brake lines and a set of track pads and I should be ready for my first ever track day

Wait a minute. Just because it's super late friday night, doesn't mean I should quit selling. Check out our options for brake lines and race pads. By the way, you should throw those pistons away!!!

I would buy lines and pads from you, but do you have them for GTO?

Awesome, will be waiting
I have another noob question.
I took off caliper pins and I tried putting them back on and I can't seem to get them aligned right. If I just put on them on the caliper, tighten them down, then try to slide the bracket on, it seems pins are misaligned and bracket doesn't slide smoothly. If I loosen two pin nuts slightly then I can get the bracket to slide smooth but as soon as I tighten them down again the bracket doesn't slide smooth
