Default Lou Gigliotti of LG Motorsports @ Powell Motorsport in The Great White North

John and Devon Powell hosted Lou Gigliotti today, up at their shop in Port Perry, Ontario, Canada, and they invited a few of their Customers up to meet Lou, and check out some of his new road racing upgrades for the Corvette.

So the ol' Road Racing Crew (Me, Steve, Greg, Lauri) plus Walt and soon to be Road Racer, Mike, did the convoy up to Powell Motorsport!

Bit of an unusual Corvette Convoy though ... since there was only one Corvette in the group!

We made good time along the 407 ... with no OPP escort!

Once at the shop, we headed in, and started checking out the cars, and parts on display...

Ian (JUSTAKAR) stopped by with his loaner ... .... a 2010 Camaro ... which is being built at the GM Oshawa Plant. I took the car out for a drive, handles nicely, very smooth shifting, and good power.

... and Lou decided he needed to give it a try! ...

This guy with the long hair kept getting in the way of my shots!

Wait! It's Bruce! (7T2VETTE)

Group Shot ....

Another Group Shot ...

Lauri and Lou ...

Great time hearing Lou's take on Racing, Corvettes, Le Mans, Sebring Winter test ... and more.

His GT2 Corvette will be racing at Sebring ... and he is hoping that the ACO Le Mans officials will accept his application this year for Le Mans ... his car will be assessed next week down in Carolina by the officials ... so keep your fingers crossed!

Lou was initiated into the Canadian Corvette Forum Fanatics Group ... and I think by the end of the day, he understanding at least 15% of what Ian was saying!

Thanks to John and Devon for putting on a great day ... kinda made the next couple of months before the next Mosport Track day alittle more bearable.

Hi GUys,

I will be getting on the plane shortly but I have to say that it was a great time. Really good people.

Powell Motorsports and John Powell has been a Corvette cornerstone for years.

I met John Powell for the first time in the Corvette Challenge, that John originated and administered.

I owe my beginning of Corvette racing and Probably my focus on Corvettes to John Powell.

And thinking back, my son Louis was 4 years old and went to every Corvette Challenge race and John Powell's son Devin,10years old, was also there. So we will be passing the torch at some point to the next generation.

Canada was COLD compared to Dallas but they said it was a WARM day

All in all it was a good event and I am flattered that they had me there.

See you at the races!

Lou G

Hey Mark, nice write up. It was great to get out and see most of the gang again and also to be around a bunch of cars, Ian that was very cool of you to bring the Camaro and let us get close to it and even drive it. I have been going through major withdrawl, so to see you all, see the cars (see my car), to meet Lou and talk racing for a bit was a real pleasure.

Thanks to Devon and John Powell for hosting us and putting this together, its very assuring to see the relationship the Powells and the Gigliotti's have. To me there is no better combination of people and knowledge for our cars, makes me realize that my car is in the best hands, fyi...they work on some pretty cool stuff together that most of us dont even know about and it was very interesting hearing from Lou just how long and personal their relationship is..

Lou is a great guy, very funny ...and if you're reading this Lou, thanks for attempting to autograph my headers and for telling me that my LG pro's are now outdated ....But your generous offer to trade them for the Super Pros was very kind, it was also nice that you pretended to understand what Ian was saying

See you all again soon...hopefully most of you at the track

Steve

Lou,

It was great meeting you ... and getting a chance to chat with you ... at the ALMS races you are focused on your driving and car activities, which does not allow you much time to chat with us Corvette fanatics

Hearing your stories, and John Powell's about the glory years of the Corvette Challenge was really cool ... and John's stories about the testing of the original ZR-1's at his shop, and at the track was great ... you saved the best till last though, with the story about the State Trooper pulling over your race car on the Interstate, and closing it off for you to do a high speed run for them!

The Crazy Canuck's will be at a few races this year, so we'll be sure to stop by your paddock to say "Hi!" and wish you luck in the race ... hopefully we will see your #28 Corvette up at Mosport this year!

If your team needs a place to stay ... Ian's house is just around the corner from Powell's shop Of course you will have to explain to them that "Yes, he is speaking English ... but he's Scottish ... so it's like listening to a blender sometimes!"

See you guys at Sebring!

Mark
