Default Cheetah track car

How many of you guys are familiar with the Cheetah? The latest Corvette Magazine has an article on the car. It would make a nice track car and could be built fairly inexpensively. What do you guys think?

If you mean by
fairly inexpensively.
you mean less than the cost of a used C5 Z06 and it was faster I'd be all over it.

It does make a cool hot wheel

The original cars were evil handling due to lousy suspension / chassis geometry. If the modern kit car could correct those problems, it could be something to consider. 22-2300 Lbs with a modern LSXX V8 would be a fun combination. I agree with the previous post on cost - it would need to be less than a nice used C5 Z06.

Used C5 Z06s are pretty cheap right? About $22k? You couldn't build a Cheetah that cheaply.

Fritz, the owner of Katech, loves the Cheetah and feels there would be a market for Katech to build track cars.

I think the older cars had a hand made suspension system and the newer cars use C4 suspension.

If I was going to build a kit car, it would be a Factory 5 "Super Car". Saw one at VIR, and it was pretty cool. Corvette engine and suspension....so I already have all pretty much all the spare parts laying around.

Being outside of the age group of the average Cheetah fan, those are my thoughts also. I like the more modern GTM.

do an ebay search for speed10 on ebay...Bob Auxier in AZ is the "father" of this deal and the one that got Bill Mitchell`s seal of approval.

This Cheetah is not so much a "kit car" as a continuation car. Here is one distributor of the car http://tangibletoys.com/cheetamain.html

Neither of those options sound like a great way to go. I would think that a C5 suspension equipped with coil overs would be easy enough to fab the frame to?? I watched a Cheeta race in the late 60s at Portland International (yes, I'm that old) and it was fast for it's time.
