Hans device
Which is the BEST Merchant to purchase a HANS Device from??
The time has come to upgrade my safety equipment.
Planning on getting a HANS Device with Sliding Tethers.
Any other options I should be aware of ?
Thanks

Basically everybody is going to have the same price and options, so pick your favorite forum vendor and order away. Sliding tethers are awesome, and if you have somebody do it for you at a track, often they'll do the install for you on your helmet for free. It's not rocket-science, but nice to have somebody that knows what they're doing!
I got mine from Discovery Parts - great to deal with, and they do at-the-track installs.

If you are in this area, I am partial to OG racing. They have a great shop in Manassas, VA and will do the anchor install on the helmet for you for free. Here is a link to their web site -- http://www.ogracing.com/pages/Home

I think OG Racing moved out in the Dulles Airport area a couple of years ago. they have decent pricing and great service.

I just purchased my HANS Sport Series with sliding tether today from OG Racing (22585-D Markey Ct. Sterling, VA 20166, 1-800-934-9112), which included FREE mounting on my helmet. Great service and support!

OG Racing is where I got mine also... Sport with sliding tethers.
I drilled my own helmets and installed the anchors myself. It is not hard to do and instructions can be found easily (should be included with the Hans for that matter). Of course, if you can get installation for free, well, why not.

Quick Release or not???
Does the device come with everything? Or do I need to order stuff seperately?

The Hans device comes with everything you need. However, the Hans Quick Release Tether is an OPTION. You can buy it with the Hans or upgrade it later.

My understanding is the original sliding tether does not have quick release, but I heard in Jan 2009 they will be offering that. Personally I like the quick release over the sliding so I was happy with my current setup. If they do add quick release to sliding then I will upgrade.

If a slider quick disconnect becomes available I may look into getting it. For now, I'd rather have the full side to side motion that the sliding tether offers.
As mentioned, it comes with everything you need for one helmet. If you have more than one helmet, you'll need extra Helmet Anchors. I have 2 helmets, so I had to get an extra set of anchors... I got the pretty red ones to match my car.
