The problem may be that they're competing with Chin Motorsports. Chin has a Jan 3 event at Sebring.

will do Jan 10 & 11 at Homestead
Sebring is too far from Miami and too rough on cars

Sebring is fun, but when there is a Homestead day it is just so much closer for me. Also the hooked events have soooo fewer drivers in each group---I get a much better experience

Instructor
I've never been to one of these events & was wondering if you guys could answer some questions. How tough are they on the inspections? I have some track wheels/tires that have little tread left. On the website they say you need 50% tread. Do you recommend a instructor for the first time and if so, how much are they? Any first timer tips? Thanks

instructors are usually included in the track fee
As a newbie you need to have a fire extunguisher mounted in the car
have the brake fluid changed, check tire pressures
try and find a track map and look it over for a few days before hand

Guys we haven't required a fire extinguisher in Florida, so you can run without one. We are pretty flexible and try to accommodate everyone.
We don't charge extra for instructors riding with you, and lunch is included in the entry fee.
Looks like the 3 run groups will be around 12 cars per session, so it won't be crowded at all.
Instructors have no entry fee, and we could use some more as some of our regular instructors are away for the holidays.

Fire extinguishers are bad news inside a track car. I've seen two people killed when the bottle broke lose. I sure as h*ll don't need one flying around the interior of the car if I hit something.
If your car catches fires just pull over and get the h*ll out. You have never been trained in fire fighting and you could make the situation worse. Let the sucker burn to the ground rather than risk injury trying to put out a fire.

That's the advantage of the sport cups, although I know some people who drive on the roads (short distance) to the track on Hoosiers. Risky if rain hits. By the way, I know the tire guy told you not to worry about heat cycling the new Hoosiers but I would highly recommend it, it will extend the tire's useful life. Its actually simple...........heat them up then let them cool for about 24 hours without weight on them. Tire Rack does it for $15/tire....well worth it. Have fun at Homestead, be safe.

I had to use mine once when the trans on my Ferrari 512TR blew at Sebring, the case crackes & trans fluid dumped on the exhaust catching fire. I pulled out my extinguisher and saved my car from becoming a crispy critter
I have extinguishers mounted in all my cars, even my DD
I understand there is the possibility that it could come loose, but I've never seen that happen

Actually he said that Hoosier recommends against mechanically heat cycling the tires (check the website) as they do at tire rack. he DID recommend that I heat heat cycle them myself by getting tires up to temperature and then parking it for 24 hrs. How difficult is it to get them up to "temperature" around the neighborhood.? should I get a tire temp gauge (best place to buy online?)?
