Fits perfectly into Super Touring 2. Also known as ST2.

Will fit even better if the 2009 rules change comes through and allows us to remove our interiors and passenger seats!

Another option is PTA (Performance Touring) if your C5Z is relatively stock. Most C5Z's run after market sway bars and 295 Hoosiers or V710's (that's all that you can mod for the most part).

ST2 is a great class for a T1 car! Cmon in, the NASA Corvette racers are like family and will help you with what ever you need.

Mikah, I'll second you on the carpet removal, hope it goes thru.

The January 2009 Fastrack (released 12/21/08) will reflect the allowed removal of interiors in T1. Also, the new minimum weight of T1 Vipers to be 3300 lbs and no restrictor...

(just foolin' on the Viper thingie)

You don't, but SCCA T1 required it. That is supposed to change in '09 for SCCA.

LOL Dave, I think that's the closest I've ever actually been to making the exact expression of an emoticon.

3180 for C5 Vettes and 3600 for Snakes now with no interiors?

I'm envisioning Jody as being "Captain Over" from the Airplane movie Cockpit scene........

"you ever seen a grown man naked?"
"you ever hang around a gymnasium?"
"you like movies about Gladiators?"

Mikah, I have only driven my Viper once without the weight and restrictor: the day I dropped the car off at Joe Aquilante's shop. He slapped a dealer plate on the back of it and said, "let's take it for a ride." Keep in mind I had not seen it yet except loaded in my trailer (yes, I bought it sight unseen via Ebay and had a good friend vouch for its condition).

I was really, really cautious traversing the backroads of Phoenixville, PA (of course, there are only backroads in Phoenixville! ), to the point of surprising Joe.

I'd love to race it without the weight and restrictor; I hear it's a blast...quite the rocket.

Actually, that's not true, then you won't make the HP/ Weight Ratio At 3180/say 385 (low from what I hear) is 8.25 : 1 which would be ST1, you'd want to be in ST2 @ 385 HP you would need to weight in at 3350.

To run a Z06 is ST2 you need to either be Full weight or have a detuined engine. My car is 3180 and I have 344 RWHP

I dunno, Ken. My '02 Z06 has no passenger seat, no carpet and some plastic panels have been removed and a motor that's pretty much stock tuned and I make the 8.7 pretty easily.

My car weighs, with me @ 207#'s and a 3/8 tank of motion lotion, right at ~3,290#'s. The motor is at 370 RWHP. That yields a 8.89.

Yeah, I've seen this misconception come up on several threads regarding this T1 rule change and how it relates to NASA ST2. While it is absolutely true that NASA STx requires no interior, it does require the 8.7 lbs / hp ratio be met. A stock C5Z without T1 mods would barely fit into ST2, let alone a T1 car with the typical 20 or so extra ponies. Removing the interior of a C5Z (without a de-tune) is going to put it farther under the ratio and bump it into ST1.

Remember, David had to add a couple hundred pounds of ballast to make his T1 Viper compliant to ST2. rules. A C5Z is pretty damn close out of the box, WITH an interior.

Obviously the guys that run both classes are going to remove the allowed items from the interior for T1, and then add ballast to run ST2.

Shady Aaron, do you remember what your ratio was when you ran NASA in July? Were you right at the 8.7 or did you have a little wiggle room?

Well, it works out well for me anyway. The T1 weight is going to stay at 3280 - which I could not get down to previously (without removing interior). I would pull my passenger seat out for NASA races, which is worth about 25 pounds and put me probably right at 3300 at the end of a race. My motor makes 374 at the wheels, so that says I can be about 3260 at the end of a race and be within the 8.7 limit.

I'm hoping that removing all the interior bits gets me below that, and then I'll add a little ballast to the right-rear to better balance the car and be all set!

I hear ya, but I've been hear 399 ish RWHP numbers from many T1 guys.

So for the normal person it fits fine but if you have one of those "special" T1 cars it won't.
