Default Dynatech tells me I am the only one

As some may remember I had my driver side Dynatech header blow off the air tube at Roebling in May. Dynatech sold me a new driver side header and then when I shipped the old one back (in the return freight box provided) they reimbursed me the price of the header.

Sunday going under the bridge at T11 of Road Atlanta the passenger side blew off. When I talked to Don at Dynatech today he told me I was the only one to ever lose an air tube off of one of their headers and now that I had a second one so it must be something I am doing wrong. He did asked me if I "raced it".

"Greg" from Dynatech will be calling me on Monday to see what they can do this time when he gets back from the PRI.

Am I the only Dynatech C5/6 customer to lose air tubes off their header?

Are you running CATS? I had an air line and check valve blow when my CAT failed and clogged the exhaust. This happened while on track. It also happened to another CF HPDE'r. He lost his brakes because it either knocked or burned off the vacuum boost tube.

If you are running CATs check them while you have the header off. I think the aftermarket highflow CATs fail much more frequently than the stockers. I'll never run them on the track again.

the newer cars don't even have AIR. I just whack them off and weld them shut

I can't keep an engine in my current NASA car to see if the headers will hold up (although LG's never let me down before)

Think I can do it with the header still attached to the car?

Cuccharia - I probably have 85-100 events on these headers. I have this addiction problem....

The weld can be done while the header is still on the car. May not be pretty but it is possible. I had mine welded at Road Atlanta with them in the car.

Is the car still emission legal with the AIR tubes gone? Will it throw codes? Who did your welding--someone at the track?

If one gets stranded with this failure at the end of the last session of the day, can one limp the car home with the tube blown out? Or do you have to gerry-rig something?

Thanks for posting, this is very informative. I have the Dynatechs w/aftermarket cats but have had no issues at all in 11 days (8 events).

LG's headers are good. Eventually you may have an issue until then don't worry.

A shop next to Road Atlanta did the welding. We cleaned the area and welded the hole with a washer to fill the hole and filled in around that until there were no leaks. If you have that AIR blow out while on the track you will hear it. A very loud ticking. I would not recommend you continue to drive the car unless you can fix the hole in your header. I did try one time to gerry rig but the header pressure blew out everything I tried. No codes at all. Just a loud ticking! Could you drive the car home with a gerry rig? I don't think so. No problem with emission if you plug that hole!
