Default New from Hardbar and Penske

The Penske 8200 LE is a brand new shock system that uses all of the superb first class Penske 8700 3 way shock with a new internal separator piston to provide a low cost option. Hardbar and Leading Edge worked with Penske to offer this exclusive option. Now you can have the very best and upgrade as your needs and budget permit. This is an upgradeable system that has the capability of being easily converted to the 8300 2 speed or 8700 3 speed at a later time, by removing the separator piston and adding the hoses and canisters. All of the internal parts, and all of the best in class Hardbar mounts including the 17-4 PH "T" bar, the upper clevis mounts, and the adjustable rear lower clevis (shown in red anodized finish) are the same as the 8700 series. This shock has the best spring adjuster available on Acme threads as well. These are the lightest best quality shock in the market, with a 17-4 PH 5/8 shaft for maximum oil flow. These are priced each and springs are optional as well. Suitable for leaf or coil-over applications. These are $550 each plus springs (if desired). As with all Hardbar products, they are 100% made in USA and each one is individually dyno'ed and you get the data files.

Single adjustable? Double or triple when you add the canisters?

These are non (externally) adjustables, singles are $650 each. Do you like the improved pics? I spend time on design, engineering, and testing and frankly the picture composition is 29th on my list of top 10 things I care about.

Thanks, I am off to the PRI show tomorrow. And we will have our Penske 8700 with the dual rate springs at the Hyperco booth. Apples to apples, these are the lightest coil overs on the market as well as the best. The phone will work, but the thread following will be slow!

Gary,

What is the cost to upgrade these to 2-way or 3-way?

You also mentioned a single-adjustable version: how useful is a single-adjustable shock?

That is a very tempting setup. My only concern is the amount of shock travel. How much travel is there?

Good question, thanks, and greetings from PRI! We have the most travel of any shock package available. This is due to the fact that we can get the shock bodies and shafts in any lengths we wish (independant of each other). With an off the shelf shock, that is not possible, you are stuck with a "16 inch" or "17 inch" etc shock. The body length is determined by the point where the tire would hit the fender (it does not), and the shaft length is determined by the point where the upper control arm hits the spring on full droop. We use a poly foam bump rubber as a third spring so it looks like less travel, but we have almost 6 inches of rear wheel travel! The 2 way upgrade later is about $350.
