That is an amazing facility. The UAW will get it's due shortly. After many years of strangling the US auto business, they will soon be looking for jobs at McDonalds or Walmart. Under the current conditions, there is no way the US big 3 can survive without bankruptcy and abrogation of the existing labor contracts.

Something I've been wondering...what eats up more of the automaker's budget: Labor wages or mgmt salaries and bonuses?
I'm not trying to defend the UAW. There was a time and place for them, and I believe that time has passed. In the early 1900's there were no labor laws, no dept of labor to bring business to account to, etc. and workers were exploited. Now there are fair labor laws that take care of most of what the union was needed for. Now they (the unions) just demand more and more for the workers, pushing up the cost's for all.
There are a lot of good workers at the plants. There are also a lot of slugs, drunks, and drug users. I say this from experience...I've been with the police when they busted shop workers on lunch, out in their cars smoking pot...I had many neighbors who worked in the shops, and would brag about thier drinking at work, mgmt not able to fire them unless they actually saw a drink being taken, or finding ways to have friends clock them in or out when they weren't actually at work.
Sorry, I rant. I've seen my hometown dissipate into a state of despair. Most of the factories are gone. Not just closed-gone. Nothing but concrete acreage left where they once stood.
But, with all that, how much do the execs make, and are they getting the big bonuses like the Wall Street crowd? If so, how much are they costing us each time we buy a new car?

Lycoming has the UAW union.
It was ridiculous trying to get anything done.
If I went down to the dyno, basically I had to keep my hands in my pocket.
I wasn't allowed to pick up a tool.
