Default Interesting Corvette Challenge 90 suspension pics

Look at the aluminum spacer for the sway bar. Guldstrand sells these. What to they do?

Different way to lower Vette

Probably doesnt change location as the stock unit has a stamped steel spacer there also. Maybe reduces flex or adapts to aftermarket bar mount? Check out the lower a-arm mod to lower the spring pocket.
Not a bad looking caliper. Wonder what kind those are?

That spacer actually moves the bar down an inch. Probably for clearance

Appears to be about the same spacing as my 96.

Thank you for the link. I had one of the leftover Challenge engines in my C4 for a while. It had been found with several others in a warehouse and they were quickly bought up. It was in the car when I bought it years ago.

What unusual brakes, could that be a 3 piston PBR caliper?

Neat car.

Looks like a mule for testing different modifications.

It was titled as Baker car from that era of corvette challenge series.
Kinda neat GM had this stuff for the series. DRM might have more on this if Randy chimes in.

GM did have a set of experimental 3 piston brake calipers that racers could buy. Sort of like the thick cheek brake rotors GM provided for C5 racers but much harder to get.

There was a lot of testing going on during the challenge days. The challenge was a great deal for both the racer and GM. The engineers worked closely with the teams to make not only the racecar better, but also the street version. The racers had a place to race and the engineers had a place to test. The challenge had some of the best drivers around, put 30 cars in a field and test data comes back very fast.

I don't remember the 3 piston calipers, but I was very young back then.

Randy
