The radiator for the intercooler is in series with the rest of the coolers?

So, uh, which one is the intercooler? None of those have big honking air ducts.

Air to liquid has no air ducts, the part you see cools the liquid...the part that cools the air is under the cowl.

Where else are you going to put it? Use one of the brake ducts? Tight packaging for a lot of power. Have the intercooler up front and let the A/C condensor and radiator accept the additional loads.

An aside: does anyone have an idea what the delta t is across a radiator?

Have a good one,
Mike

Thanks, I had completely forgotten they chose liquid/air rather than air/air.

Since you don't need to worry about ductwork, you can put it whereever you want, so long as it can get air.

Lingenfelter puts the intercoolers for thier twin turbo setup under the headlights.

I'm guessing by series you mean sandwiching them together? Otherwise, you can plainly see the black hoses feeding the intercooler only on the left of the picture. This placement although sound for a roadcar, is not optimal for cooling performance for either the coolant temps or the IAT's for a track car.

The real question is what did they do with the oil cooler? My ZO6 has a very beefy oil cooler in front of the A/C condenser and radiator but I don't see it on the ZR1. I would think a supercharged motor would need a nice big oil cooler.

Not the liquid the cooling air.

If they were parrallel, they would be side by side.

As they are now, the air 1st goes through the radiator for the intercooler, then the AC, then the engine radiator.

Take a looks at the APS twin turbo setup.

The small heat exchanger on the ZR1 in front of the ac condensor coil cools the liquid that cools the brick/plate design intercoolers in the plenum which themselves actually cool the air

I agree, I think it is the PS cooler in the picture. Someone told me they have placed a small oil cooler under the car by the oil filter.

Just found this cutaway of the LS9 showing the intercooler above the roots blower.

I found the oil cooler on the ZR1. Maybe they went with this system becuse at times my oil runs too cold on my ZO6. The other day on a highway cruise after a hour in cold weather my oil temp didn't go above 130.

The LS9, because it has a dry sump, uses two-stage oil pump, similar to the LS7 unit, however, its capacity is larger, 32.3 gallons-per-minute vs. the LS7's 27.1 gpm. The oil pan comes from the LS7 but has mounting bosses for the ZR1's engine-mounted, oil cooler.

See link for pictures and info at the bottom of the page.
