Default BlueGrass Motorsports Open House PICS

BlueGrass Motorsports Club and Road Course had their open house today to allow folks to see the progress and walk / drive the track (gravel and dirt) About 200 persons attended.
It is well underway and on schedule for next years grand opening.

Lots of comments about how much fun this track is going to be.

Just a few pics for your viewing. I will have many more on my web site.

Part of the paddock which is paved in some areas:

Looking down part of the long straight:

Looking down the upper esses to a bit of a back staight:

Entry to a sweeping 180 which has a quick exit turn which could be taken as a straight for some great exit speed:

Steep downhill to a sweeping right hander with a bit of banking: This part is going to be a blast.

Coming back around to the front straight which will give you great exit speed onto the monster straight:

And of course, the # 1 10/10ths Corvette:

Finally,
Could not resist so my Dad and myself took our first ever BlueGrass Motorsports Lap:

This is going to be a great facility in a very nice part of KY.
I'll keep you up on the progress.

It's great to see more of these types of venues opening up! There will be two new motorsport facilities in Oregon next year also.

Those rotors are HUGE!!

This one almost looks the same and it's even the rear, didn't get a picture of the front.

Can't wait to sign up for 10/10ths 1st event here.

It was tough to get OzCop off the track

I stopped by Monday on my way back from Northern KY and was really impressed by the progress they made in a week.

The turn at the top of the hill before the front straight was totaly redone since Monday. Great job Andy and Brad.

How wide is the track throughout? 40' is quoted, but is that only on the widest parts?

Most new tracks are having the same problem....too narrow.

The other problem is they are not being designed for racing, and are limited the function of the track to basically just "time trails" and DE's. Lack of good passing zones, and overall "flow" is something that is essential for the track to drive and more importantly race well.

Especially in such a crappy economy, these types of country clubs are quickly finding out they need to fill everyday with events, no matter who they are...as there are not enough Club members to have the track profit.

Looks nice though, I'm interested to see if any vendor steps up to grab the on track store.

Assuming the current "bed" as graded, graveled, and edged will be the paved width, I'm thinking closer to 50' wide as opposed to 40'. It does look to be wider than Putnam, and a couple other tracks I have run, especially in the turns...

Good point...

Are you going to the 10/10ths event at Putnam Nov. 1?

Hope to see you there...

I will miss that one, Phil. I have a bad leak around the power steering pump and a few other little things like two bad rotors, no good pads...etc... Car's broke, I'm broke....market's down. Reminds me of the old heehaw song...gloom, despair and agony on me.....

Hope to catch up to you soon.
