C6 Wheel Sizes for Road Racing
I want to order some C14 wheels dedicated for track use. I am currently running 18X10's in the front and 19x13's in the rear. What is the optimum wheel and tires sizes to run at the track? Besides tire choice, is there a compelling reason to run 18's front and rear? Would a 17" rear wheel be better than an 18" for the rear?
What tires sizes would you recommend? Tire choice will most likely be Hoosier R6's.
Thanks.

I may just run some Hoosiers on these for awhile...

I have a c6 z w/ 18 x 11 front w/ 295 fronts and the tire hits the wheel well when turned close to full, 345 rears work well on 18 x13 wheels. I would assume the same size Hoosiers would work ok?

Depends on how much camber you run. I have 18x11s on my car. At -2deg up front they tuck in nicely, you will want a steering limiter, though. I have 18x11 rears, too, but I think an 18x12 just might fit!

I have 18x11's on all 4 corners with 315s. No issues except for full lock and that is mainly with the drivers side inner fender wheel. If GM would have located the coolant tank in a different place, it wouldn't be a issue at all.

My track wheels are CCW C10's 11” x 18” all around with Kumho 710 tires...305/30/ZR18 front – 315/35/ZR18 rear. I use hub extenders (or spacers) on the front wheels. This has worked very well for me.
Eventually, I'm going to tub my wheels wells to go with 12" rear wheels on the track and so a big brake setup will work better with my street wheels.

Can you help the rest of us understand how it's possible to make this work on a C6 non-Z06? Are you using a wide-body kit?

I'm actually thinking an 18x12 rear wheel will fit if you're willing to run -1.5 or better for camber back there.
It can definitely be done. It just depends on where your point-of-view is.

and Hoosiers need -3.0 up front and -2.0 in back if not a bit more.
with the proper amount of neg camber the tires wont stick out beyond the fender if that is what you are worried about.

I've been at -1.8 and was just fine. This setup works just fine for the car but your going to chew up the inner fender wells at full lock, mainly the driver side due to the over flow tank location. This isn't a issue at National type courses and I only have the problem bacause our local courses usually have a turn around that forces a full lock to make the turn.
But to answer the other question, no, I do not have a wide body kit. When people ask me if it's a Z06 I tell them yeah, it's a special order slim body kit.

I've talked to Steve in the past, but I too run 18x11 front and rear. 295/30r18 front, 305/35r18 rear Toyo R888s. The fronts really really want a steering limiter so you don't slam the wheel in to the wheelhouse or the tie-rods. And you *must* run close to -2deg camber or better up front to get things to clear.

I think the RAFT cars run 315s on C5Z 18x10.5 on the C6s. I had forgotten you were running the 295s, too. :-) FWIW, every time I add more negative to the front of the car, the happier the car gets...
