Default would you run a rebuilt ls1 motor immediately on a track?

without babying it for 1000 miles lets say? has anyone just taken a practically brand new rebuilt motor/car with warranty and ran on a track? I could take it easy on the straights...reason i ask is because I will be at the Glen this weekend to pick up my car(after work was done to replace motor) and since its there i want to run some laps..it would suck to go through all the trouble of getting there and then have to leave without running.. what do you guys think?

I always beat the snot out of new motors (once they're up to temp). It seats the rings NOW, and ends up with longer life. For what its worth, my '01 never had an oiling issue.

I always heard you break them in the way you will be driving them.

I've heard it both ways... (good logic for both trains of thought). I woudl ask the fellas you bought the engine from (and the ones who will warrenty the work).

This is pretty much what we did with my crate LS6 - it seemed to like it as it put down some very respectable dyno numbers. I loaded it onto the trailer at the shop, then unloaded it for a race at Nashville - break-in done!

I break in most of my motors with say 200 street miles then straight to a track. And beat the living snot out of them the rest of their earthly lives.

Hell you have a warranty........go get em killer!

thats what I want to hear! thanks guys. I think you have to break in a new car because the drivetrain is new and thats why you hear all this break in nonsense. if you are putting a new motor in a used car the drivetrain is already ready for it.

I had about 75 street miles on my rebuilt LS1 before I took it to the track.

I suspect most T1 racers put crate LS6 motors in their cars and take them straight to the track. I ran the 2004 SCCA National Championship runoffs on a car that had less than an hour total run time. Engine ran great until I stuffed it into a wall in 2006...
