Default Victory by Design (Alain De Cadenet)

Episode DVDs appear to be available now.

After the "Victory by Design" episode that featured Corvette was
broadcast, there was a spike here in interest in the series hosted
by Alain De Cadenet. A thread from 2007-01:
At the time, I made unsuccessful efforts to purchase the Corvette
and other V-b-D episodes. Only the Maserati episode was available,
with no ETA on the other disks.

Discussion today about "101 Cars" prompted me to think about the
quality of the V-b-D shows and about the appreciation that host
Mr De Cadenet displays for his subjects.

I looked up the website and found that ten DVDs are now listed. I
called the toll-free number and was told that all are in stock. My
selection is supposed to ship USPS today.
  • Alfa Romeo
  • Aston Martin
  • Corvette
  • Ferrari
  • Ford Muscle (inc Shelby)
  • Grand Prix
  • Jaguar
  • Lotus
  • Maserati
  • Porsche
The disks are said to each contain about 20 min more content than
has been broadcast.

The single price is discounted by $5 ea if several are purchased.

Cool, I have the Corvette episode saved on my Tivo. I loved the Ferrari one and I missed quite a few of the others. Thanks for the info.

I spoke with him a couple of years ago and asked if the series would ever make a comeback now that SpeedVision is SpeedChannel (all Nascar all day and night).

He said that it was all about the money and that it probably wouldn't happen. What a shame.

Thanks for the info. I've got a few of these saved on the dvr as well. I'll probably look to get the full versions on dvd though because I love those shows.

It is a shame that Speed has gone in the direction that it has. Besides F1 coverage and a few other series (ALMS, Speed WC), most of the programming seems to be catering to the lowest common denominator these days and not true gear heads or race fans. What a shame.
