Turbos for 2011 IndyCar Series
The IRL is seeking to increase engine power from 650 horsepower to about 750.
The IRL's next roundtable meeting will be Sept. 16-17 at the Speedway. The event, like the initial one in June, will be closed to the public.
More than a dozen manufacturers attended the June meeting, and Brian Barnhart, president of the competition and operations divisions, has said he expects "three or four," including Honda, the only current participating manufacturer, to show serious interest and perhaps commit.
The league hopes to announce specifications in December so manufacturers have two years to design, build, test and mass produce the engines.

I'd like to see multiple chassis and tires.

More info on new 2011 indy cars
9-17-2008
"The timeline for defining a spec and receiving a commitment from manufacturers to replace the workhorse Honda Indy V8, which has been the stalwart sole power plant for the IndyCar Series since 2006, remains the end of the calendar year. That would allow proper lead time for design/development and manufacturing for full-scale testing in 2010. Honda was one of the five manufacturers represented at the latest meetings in Indianapolis."

They should have kept Champ Cars panoz and turbo Cosworth. Proven design that already makes that kind of power with a turbo and could make more. The car is nicer looking than the IRL car too.

I liked the Panoz DP01 Cosworth, but it would have needed new parts for the ovals, Honda would have been out, and many more teams would have had to purchase a new indy car (vs the Champ Car teams buying the Dallaras).

The ovals are okay and IMHO the street circuits are not worth watching if another race is on television. I wish they would race more pure roadcourses and make the appropriate aero changes to the cars to make them handle. I know its apples to oranges, but watching last years F1 cars was a thrill....I just hope that with the new rules in effect that F1 will still have most of the appeal they had in 2008

Bring back the races to the old tracks, and some of the newer ones too.
Road America, Laguna Seca, etc
Nice car, but they were having issues, as I recall a lot of driver injuries.
