Default Will a DTE brace push me out of SCCA Super Stock?

Hey guys-

Thinking about adding a DTE brace to my 03 Z06 for peace of mind. I am new to SCCA solo II racing and have read the rule book online. It looks as though a scattershield is allowed but it doesn't mention anything about reinforcing the drivetrain being allowed or disallowed that I could see. If anything the weight would be a disadvantage but it is surely not a factory part.

Does anyone know if adding the brace will classify me out of super stock into prepared or modified or something?

Not that I plan on winning anytime soon I just figured it would be best not to start out on the wrong foot but would like the brace for protection should I get into a wheel hop situation on a autox/street/dragstrip scenario.

Thanks!
Andrew

Not needed don't do it. Might move you out of Stock.

It's autox not drag racing

I have no idea what a 'DTE' brace is, but the basic overriding rule is simply this :

- If it's not specifically listed as an approved stock class modification, then you can't do it.

Reinforcing or extra braces on the drivetrain would most certainly NOT be allowed in stock classes.

Not legal in SS and not needed in any class with the stock drivetrain. IMHO

The only wheel hop you'll get is in a ProSolo launch when you don't have enough RPMs to spin the wheels a bit. In Autox there is usually a turn right at the start before the trip light so you have to launch easily, without any driveline stress. FWIW.

Good luck and have fun!

If nothing else e-mail the Solo2 technical advisors. They can be very helpful.

Save your money and the weight, dont do it, you dont need it. We have never ran one on any of our cars with a lot more power and stick than an SS car.

well I guess I will pass then- it seems like cheap insurance but not at the cost of running modified.
