Default First time in a T1 car

Hey guys,

Oli was nice enough to let me drive his Alvaka Networks T1 car.

Like a knucklehead I put it in the dirt twice , but happily all that came of that was a fine layer of dust.

Thanks again Oli! That was a blast!

That Oli sure is a nice guy! Congrats on your first run, wasn't it fun?

Yeah. The sticky tires were awesome, but the real kick was the total absence of the "I'm gonna die in this thing" feeling.

A cage is a wonderful wonderful luxury to have.

Some of us would say the cage is not a luxury.

you did a great job for the first time in a T1 car . they can really catch you off guard both in how much grip you do have and then again underestimating how smooth you need to be to not unsettle the car. Looks like we may have an addition to the T1 wars in socal

Speaking of unsettling, does your T1 car like to heave around and squirm under hard braking?

My car does "squirm" under heavy braking especially if the surface is a little bumpy. It is amazing how well they brake with racing pads and sticky tires even with stock calipers. I remember the first time I drove the car. I was at willow springs and had only driven my street Z06 there before. Going into turn 1, I used my usual braking point and almost came to a complete stop about 50 feet before the turn in. Gary Hoffman still teases me about it.

A T1 vette has a stock engine (computer tune allowed as is balancing and blueprinting), stock brake calipers (may use racing pads), T1 suspension (stiffer springs, sway bars and lower front a-arms) , full roll cage, may use racing seats but must still have 2 seats, and use DOT tires (most use Hoosiers or Kumhos). Many other mods are usually done such as engine/tranny/diff coolers, etc. weight must be 3280 with driver at end of race at least for the guys running a C5.

Bleh... Oli's car was heaving to the left as I got on the brakes.

My miata and C6 have spoiled me!
