Does anybody have any suggestions on where to install the racepak g2x on a C6? Does the antenna have to be outside the car? I understood that the antenna can be inside the car as it is plastic?
Thx,

Sorry, I don't have specific C6 experience but mine actually worked ok with the antenna in the car (a GTO, I forgot to mount it once I got to the track) but you can always tape it to the roof or mount it in the back (as far back as possible) under the rear glass.

Cosco Ambassador No-back Booster Seat and available from Walmart
for < $15. This b-seat permits the unit to be quickly & securely belted
into place on the passenger side. It passed tech at World of Speed
at Bonneville in 2006 and has not been rejected anywhere else.
The G2X head unit is attached to the right armrest of the b-seat so
it faces the driver, the curve of the armrest is very close to that of
the head unit. Adhesive-backed hook & loop (Velco) material
secures the antenna temporarily to the dashboard during runs, there
is no problem with reception. The G2X cigar adapter powers the
system. A carpenter's 'Bullseye' level (Home Depot) is attached to
the G2X with double-sided tape to assist with positioning.
These photos show the original configuration w/ a block of wood
to raise the rear of the unit. Tim at Racepak displayed the lower
image on their website and has used a similar set-up for testing
sessions.

(Chuckle) Nope, a slice of oak trim, IIRC.
I was under the impression that the unit ought to be level and I
later made changes to the base to achieve this, no matter what
vehicle the b-seat was strapped into. However, photos of Racepak's
interpretation show that Tim just fastened the demo unit to the
b-seat with what appears to be foam padding, without any provision
for attitude.
From Popular Hotrodding's sidebar article about the G2X (by Johnny
Hunkins) which accompanied their writeup on AirRide Suspension's
mod for early A-bodies.

Incidently, another place I have located the antenna is on the camera
mounting plate for that extends rearward from an R-D Racing Cross-Bar
mounted behind the seats of a C4 coupe.
This position places the unit inside the cabin under the halo and it
still picks up a signal with no apparent issues. The antenna has a
built-in magnet so no hook/loop is required for that location.
Interestingly, I recall having the unit powered up in the house (using
a 1-amp 12VDC adapter from Radio Shack) and seeing the indicator
lights reporting that signals were being received from several satellites.
However, I suppose that positional accuracy would be impaired ...

Here is what I did.
For the display unit I fabbed a plastic bracket and Zip tied it to the AC vents.
I just used some wood type screws to attach to the carpet, it actually was very secure and didnt leave any noticable screw holes
I used Velcro on the antenna on the rear spoiler and ran it out the hatch.

Velcro the antenna to the underside of the rear window near the roof in the portion that's blacked out. You'll never see the Velcro and takes all of 5 seconds to get into position. As a plus, the sensor is pretty close to the absolute center your vehicle.
Similar thing with the G2X unit, I have mine located under the passenger seat and the hooks portion of the Velcro grips well with the factory carpet in a C5.
As I can a C5, tips on the display won't help.
