Corvette on pole position for GT3 race!
In case most vette racing fans are under a rock, the FIA GT3 race is down to the final 2 races this weekend and team corvette are looking at taking top honors in the championship. With just 5 points behind the leading nr 38 430 ferrari, team corvette struck the first blow. On friday, the nr 18 callaway Z06R managed the top time to land it on the pole for race one. An even greater turn of events for corvette, saw the nr 38 title leader bumped the the rear of the grid for race one. The stewards deemed their rear wing to be in violation of article 10.
This is a great time to start spectating in what looks to be an amazing battle for the title!
CorvetteMotorSport as always will have race review videos as well as all the news to get you up to date on this middle east battle!

I think that would make 99% of Corvette Racing fans indeed under a rock, as in all its' splendor, not too many folks in the US even know their IS a GT3 Corvette. If Callaway would sell the cars here (with improved safety gear, I think they/GM could sell a ton of them.
congrats to a great season for them, I think the mandated "amateur" driver status and strictly regulated car setups make the GT3 a great series....wish we could see it here (maybe over the winter SPEED????)

If only Callaway and the likes seriously pursued U.S. buyers in regards to their European GT3 spec cars.
They'd sell a handsome bit. I see too many prepped porsches, its high time that someone else steps into the lonely ring.

Corvette wins the FIA GT3 team championship! 2003 was the last time corvette won.....by 1 point!
amazing stuff, especially as the callaway group is 100% private while the other teams get their cars from the factory....an even sweeter victory...

The performance of the cars in the FIA GT3 Championship is balanced. The same goes for other series using the new GT3-spec rules.

There wasn't an FIA GT3 Championship in 2003...

Yeah, that was a great year for the ALMS...the best one I would have to say...
By the way, CorvetteMotorSport.com has just released exclusive to them, footage of the GT3 Dubai race
in their video section.
Will anyone be attending the 2008 races?

I wanted to let everyone know that another video has been released on their site that can be found Here.
This is an exclusive review of both races (unlike the other official FIA released one)
Also their video review of the 2007 season will be released in parts. This way the Euro Vette fans have something to hold them over until an even bigger assault by team Vette in 2008 starts in the spring.

As far as Callaway selling them here with improved safety gear. Huh? Sell it as a track only car. No need to worry about DOT issues. Maybe?

I ended up answering the question for him. It seemed strange to me that we wasn't aware of it at the time.

At the 2006 Laguna Seca NCM banquet, someone asked Tom Wallace about the new "Z06.R" he had heard about. Tom wasn't aware of the Callaway project or the new GT3 series being launched.
