LT1 race engines...
I threw a rod in the LT1 in my C4 road racer, so I'm looking for a replacement. I like the specs (and price) of Golen's LT's, but I'd like to hear about other LT1 builders, and the experience that you guys have had with them.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Safety Car
I run a golen 383 in my camaro, billet splayed main caps, with LE2 heads and LE4 cam. Still sorting out the bugs but the motor - just blew a head gasket and overheated it...car is very strong, about 500 hp at the crank. Quality from golen was good, support is also good, Chad will return calls quickly. Also you need, canton RR oil pan, accusump, and neutrally balanced flywheel.

how'd you throw a rod ?
oil starvation = spun bearing ?
or just a rod failure ?
Karl E is a serious drag racer.
I'm not sure he knows about windage, but he might.

I spun a rod bearing in my LT1 last year.
Rebuilt it as a 383. Lingenfelter head mods / valve job / cam. 375rwhp, 378 rwtq.
Now, if I could keep front brakes on it, I'd really have something.

I have a Golen 383 LT1 with Lloyd Elliot LE2 heads, intake, and LE2.2 cam. I've had it since Feb and still have never cranked it.
While I had the engine out, my new puppy chewed up the factory wiring harness. I decided to gut all of the factory wiring and use a painless harness. I should be all done with the wiring in December and will finally get to hear her run. The puppy went to live elsewhere.
Chad Golen was great to work with. Very professional, knowledgable, responsive, and reasonably priced. I got my short block quickly. I also bought my Canton pan from him.
