Eddie Hill @ Hallett in His Ariel Atom
Pretty cool this weekend at Hallett. Open track day and Eddie Hill was there in his Ariel Atom. He was at Hallet about a month ago for his first time on a road course and back this month. Said he's never done any road racing, however, since last month he said he's hooked.
What a nice, pleasant guy. Enjoyed visiting with him and talking about his experience. He was genuinely excited about driving the track.

Yes, that Eddie Hill. Also the first man to break the 300 mph mark in the quarter mile.
He buys a new vette almost every year and sells his "old" one on the Forum. He just sold his C6 a couple weeks ago on here:

It's funny, every time he sells his car on the Forum he spends more time answering "career" questions than questions on his car. His C5 For Sale link last year was even longer.
If you want some good racing stories read his For Sale link provided above. GOOD STUFF.
I was surprised a man that made his living in a race car didn't at least play in the various disciplines. He said he never had the time during his "career". As such, he's just now discovering road racing.
He lives in Wichita Falls, TX and owns Eddie Hill's Fun Cycles. He's about 4 hours from Hallett (i.e., Tulsa) and has made the drive up twice in two months to run the track.
Very pleasant man, just one of the boys. Nice experience. He's like a little kid with a new toy....... Can't get the grin off his face.

How cool. I knew he was into Corvettes but didn't realize he was on the forum. It's funny, racers never seem to get it out of their system. Going fast is a lifestyle. It's great to hear he is doing well (what is he in his mid to late 60's?) and a covert to road racing after years in drag racing on land and water.

The Hills defined the term "class act" in NHRA, or any other form of motorsports, for that matter. Saw him run at Ennis, and during qualifying, on one pass the Banana made it about 10 feet off the line before the tires spun. When Eddie was asked if he knew what went wrong, his reply was, IMO, classic:
"No, we were just trying to make the Earth move."
I'm glad I got to see him run in person. Never got an autograph, though; there was always a mob around his pits.
Have a good one,
Mike

Mr. Eddie Hill's TFD had a blow over about 12 years ago at Sears Point race way. My at the time live in girl friend was struck in the eye by pieces of yellow front dragster body work that flew off into the pit side stands. She had to have eye stitches. Her eye doesn't look right. But drag racing is a dangerous sport even sitting in the stands. She never sued anybody and SP raceway covered all medical bills. Just a bad end to a fun weekend.
I'm very surprised that he doesn't have some open wheel death machine When i lived in Vegas i used to go down see him in TF drag boats. That sport is for the biggest *****
