The Shark Bar is going to be the best bet for C3's If you intend on autocrossing or track days, then a harness bar with lap belts keeps you in the seat and will help to stiffen the car. At that point the ability to mount a camera is a plus.

For a camera, use a MiniDV or even an Hi8 analog tape. The HD and DVD cameras usually don't handle the rough ride and shut down. Do a search in this forum using "camcorder". You will get lots of information on what cameras work best.

Thanks guys for the helpfull info, the Chasecam site looks like it has a suction cup mount I can use on the back deck on my vert, a perfect place to mount the camera and they offer extensions.....

The chasecam mount has worked well for me, plug and play with my camera. My digital cam does video so I use that, there is a tripod mount on the bottom and the chasecam mount just screws into there. I end up having to use movie maker to turn my video right side up though.

I have a JVC with a 30g HD. I can begin recording at the start and everything's fine. My problem is it keeps stopping the record function soon after the start of the run. Camera is on, just not recording. Not sure if it's the jiggling or what.

Bad thing, microphone/sound is bad and video is not as good as chasecam.

Thanks for the post, I was just about to grab one off of Ebay. Not all that bad of a video for a self contained cam. Sometimes you can wrap the mic pickup area with foam to cut down on the over modulation. Think I'll go for the lipstick cam and plug it into my vidcam.

I checked the link out and in one review I found this comment.

"If you are not going to be using it in water or wet environments all you have to do is remove the mic cover and there is a black square rubber cover over the mic. It is 1mm or thicker and causes the sound distortion and lack of range. Remove it an re-install the cover and you get as good a sound as any other video camera"

Good Luck.
