Default Installation Cost for front BBK

What's a reasonable cost for installation (labor) of a front BBK (Stoptech or Wilwood) on a C6 Z51? The installation would include SS lines front & rear, flushing and bleeding the system. Thanks!

2 hr. would be my guess. It should be easy in a shop, and tools & lift. See what the shop manual time is to remove and replace. My regular mechanic tells me real easy to do brake jobs in less time than his shop data base said. They make big buck on brake jobs.

normal brake jobs are pretty straight forward. The BBK kits will require shims and some adjustment so they take abit longer.

Also do not forget that you will need to safety wire your rotors. That is another 1.5 hours to add to the bill unless you know how to do it yourself.

If he gets a BBK that uses the stock rotors this wouldn't be required.

Bob is right, I'm focusing on a Stoptech BBK. It seems that the Wilwood's with 14" rotor are more expensive! Also, there have been a couple of reports on these forums that the Stoptech rotors are more durable than the Wilwoods.

From the previous posts, the installation time is up to ~4 hours. I have one local quote at 8 hours! Of course, everything in Seattle is more expensive except the drizzle and the coffee.

2 to 4 hours max for any normal front brake package.

2 1/2 to 3 hours labor is a reasonable quote. No need to safety wire our rotors.

I quoted both StopTech and Wilwoods to the OP.

Wilwoods need to be safety wired while Stoptechs do not.

Well, if the installation is 3 hours (instead of 8 hours) for an experienced mechanic, perhaps I could do the job myself. How difficult is a Stoptech BBK installation on the C6 for the home mechanic? Is there a shop manual for this installation? Thanks!

If you do work on your car now like brakes you have a shot. If you are not very mechanically inclined spend 3 hours labor and watch the process as it is done. Also get the tools you need, noothing like the right tools. Plenty of people here to help you. You may have to grind the A-arm slighty or file it. I think Stoptech has a step by step install on there site. Brakes are not something to experiment with See if anyone is near you to help or watch for lunch or dinner

I have 2 cars' worth of experience installing the Stoptechs (front and back) on Z06s. Little different than the C6, but not by much. The most annoying part of the whole thing are those F*$!'ing brake lines. :-) (There's nothing wrong with the brake lines, I just hate doing them. Pain right in the ***).

The actual installation of the brake kit itself is stupidly easy if you have any mechanical inclination at all. What takes the longest is the grinding of the lower control arm. Take a little metal off, put the rotor on, measure (with the wheel straight, as well as full lock both directions), lather, rinse, repeat. This process is seriously simplified if you have a lift at your disposal. Doing it on jack stands is doable, just back-breaking.

Where abouts in the country are you?
