Default You guys see this GT500 crash at Thunderhill?

Guy is going way too fast over the hill, sounds like he gets some air, then doesn't even bother counter steering.

I was wondering what he thought after he did that. More for insurance companies when he claims

Yes... far and away... most rollovers always are as the entire car is so twisted it'd never be right again.

There's a site w/ far more pics of it... now that he's got it home, guess they'll fix it. **** he should just cage it now and make it a track car.

At least he had tape on the bumper to keep from getting any stone chips.

Lucky he had no passengers! That hood caved in pretty hard on the passenger side! That car has way too much HP for it's chassis and WAY too much weight. It's a disaster waiting to happen on a road course.

Man, what a sick feeling just looking at another guy's pride n joy.

I see those kinds of things and think "there but for the grace of God go I".

Another reason I only run at 6-7/10ths or so at DEs.

Glad he looks to be OK (physically, at least).

Have a good one,
Mike

His problem was he was about 10' too far on the left of the road, not that he was going too fast; you really need to aim for the inside curbing on that turn. What really surprises me though is people publicizing their crashes, don't the insurance companies get wind of this stuff when they file a claim? Do people really claim it happened on a race track and get covered.

Why in the hell anyone would post that video on the internet is beyond me. Since it's a street car with enormous damage and a potential large claim, absolutely nothing good could come from it.

Maybe he knows he has no coverage and is manning up.

That's the reason I quit instructing. Well, that and going backwards thru the dirt in a C5 Vert at 100.

I can't see the logic in posting the pictures... unless he's explicitly stated that he will not seek insurance (not that they are stupid, like why no scratches on the bent surfaces covered by tape)

^ I was an adjuster... I'd figure it out... but if he were smart he could have crafted a good story to the average adjuster.

Just becuase you don't take pics of your wrecked car and post them on the internet doesn't mean someone else in the pits won't take them and do it

It happened a few years ago at the forum cruise in in KY at the drags. A guy spun his red Z06 into the wall and everyone was taking pics and posted them all over here.

He didn't even have the opportunity to keep them off hte web.

You're right, the picture takers are abundant in the paddock when one is towed in. They can't wait to snap a few pix and sent them to everyone they know and they end up on every forum.

I know when I went into the tire wall at M-O and tore the fender off, everyone and his brother were snapping pictures of the car in the paddock. Although it is a race-car and the pictures didn't much matter, getting it back in the trailer became job #1.

But the video of this incident was from the driver and he controlled access to that.
