Default What makes a C5 ZO-6 into a T1 car...

As title states...what makes a ZO-6 into a T1 car.

They seem relatively expensive as compared to a stock ZO-6. I realize that the aftermarket parts aren't cheap, but aren't these stock motors and transmissions with only some bolt on suspension parts???

Thanks, Racing Novice...

Minimum is a cage (8 pt.) FIA seat/harness & no air bags.

Shocks are open. GM T-1 suspension is allowed (springs/swaybars/a-arms). larger radiator/oil cooler/transmission cooler/brake ducts are allowed

brake pads/ air filters/ fluids/ other common wear items are open

updating and backdating is allowed. which means you can run an LS6 engine in any C5 an either an MN6 or M12 transmission in any C5. You can also blueprint components within factory specs

normally cars have to run OEM sized wheels and tires within 20mm of factory width. Corvettes are allowed to run 17x10 front wheels and 17x11 rear wheels.

for some cars, there are a few performance equalizers (min. weights, restrictors plates, ect.) The full rule book can be forund at www.scca.com

. . . and here I thought it was because of all of the stickers . . .

http://www.scca.com/documents/Club%20Rules/GCR2007.pdf is the current GCR, including touring specifications. The cage itself is likely the single largest cost, excluding items like adjustable shocks, and the setup/labor cost. Fact of the matter is, there's a ton of time that goes in to setting up a well performing T1 car, over and above just installing a cage, and stuffing all the interior back in around it. When purchasing a car, that's were a decent chunk is in cost -- the knowledge and setup that's gone in.
