Default Hawk Brake Compunds...

I currently have the Hawk Performance HPS pads on my C5. The car is never tracked or autocrossed. I love the extra bite during emergency/panic stops but hate the low temp squeel and horrible levels of dust.

Just noticed Hawk also makes a Performance Ceramic pad for the C5. Anyone have any experience with this compound? How does it compare to OEM for bite, squeel, and dust? To my current HPS pads? Thanks...

I use the HP+ and get squeal and lots of dust. But they are miles ahead of the OEMs as far as braking. I cut my own shims out of sheet metal and that eliminates the squeal. The dust...can't stop it.

brake pads have temp ranges, just like tires. Track pads are designed to operate at high temps, and therefor will not do the job of saving you on the street in an emergency stop.

The ceramic pad is likely a better choice for a street car.
