We just got our first set of these units. They are aweseome quality.

Interesting...uses the stock leaf springs? I'd be interested to know what the spring rates are if you leave the leaf's on the car? The trick part is the remote resivoir for the price.

why does Callaway's design leave the stock spring? I guess the coil is just acting as a helper spring? Thanks!

On the front's they add 120#s of spring rate and on the rear they add 60#s. Based on numerous phone calls to their tech lines, here is what I've come up with. The system can work like a dual rate spring package should you adjust the spring height adjuster down a ways. This allows you to have the same general ride that your car has durring normal driving and high speed, small size bumps. However when you really press the car into a corner, or hard on the brakes or accelerator, you engage the increased spring rate for more travel resistance. Eibach has been making these for Porsche racing applications for years. They can be a little finicky to initially set up, but pay huge dividends in the long run. If you compair them to a penske double adjustable/remote resevoir shock (non-coil-over), you will spend less on the eibach's and can run them without the springs if the rules do not allow a coil over set up.

These are remote reservoir, double adjustable shock, really nice stuff.

For those wanting a more traditional Coil over package that eliminates the trasnverse leaf springs, that can be accomplished simply by swaping out the springs to a higher spring rate.

One gripe I have about using a coilover spring for the corvette is that the way I see the rear shock mounted it seems to become less effective as the suspension compresses because of not only the angle, but also because of the lower mounting point location. That being said, wouldn't the addition of this setup just make the ride harsher over bumps and then not add much, if any, resistance in hard corners?

I can see where you are coming from, and if the corvette had much greater compression travel and Callaway/Eibach were to employ a dramatically higher spring rate, then I would agree with you. However, when you consider the fact that the additional spring rate in the rear is only 60# plus factoring in the correction angle, it surely will not add much to ride harshness, but will increase effective rate.

There are alot of drivers out there that can not feel the difference of 60# in spring rate, but there are a few of us that can realize a benefit in lap times from such an incremental spring rate increase. The biggest benefit comes front the increased spring rate in the front and the remote resevoir adjustable shocks.
